Concerts; Have you ever been to one?

So, has anyone here ever been to a concert or is going to a concert? I'm going to a Bon Jovi concert on the 30th of March, and I was wondering if anyone else here has gone to one.

Up until recently, I had been to only two concerts...

-LeAnn Rimes/some male singer, also country
-Garth Brooks

...both of which I was dragged to by my parents. I was looking on a fansite when I heard that Coheed and Cambria (please, don't laugh, they're my favorite band) were coming to my local mall, and you could only get in if you bought one of the first 400 copies of their latest CD before it came out at the mall's FYE. I finally got a wristband with my Deluxe DVD/CD copy of No World For Tomorrow and waited online forever with other fans, most of who were taller and older than me, to meet them.

I started screaming so loudly when they showed up. The local rock station was there, even, giving out free magnets and posters. They grabbed their acoustic guitars and a drum and played "The Running Free", which was the first single off the disk, "A Favor House Atlantic", their breakout hit, and "Feathers", another new song that ended up being their next single. I even got the back of the CD signed and got to chat with the band a little bit. I loved it and seriously suggest anyone who has never been to a concert to see someone live. It's one of the best experiences ever, hands-down. :^_^:

I go to many concerts.

They all involve being a violinist though. >_<

One day I'd like to go see a concert by.... like... Avenged Sevenfold perhaps. And Breaking Benjamin. I think they come down here to Virginia often(and went through my area once, but it was a school night and I didn't think my parents would let me go). And maybe the New York Philharmonic would be nice too... heh.

We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
And tore the world asunder.

<taurnil> Something freakin hilarious happened in my chemistry class today
<taurnil> i was asking my teacher about the origins of the element "europium"
<taurnil> i said "So, where does europium come from?"
<taurnil> my teacher gives me the most confused look ever, and then slowly says "i don't have any opium"

<Snausages> So, an E-flat, a G-flat, and a B-flat walk into a bar.
<Snausages> And the bartender says,
<Snausages> "I'm sorry, we don't serve minors."
<Myke> That struck a chord.
<Snausages> Careful with those puns, you'll get in treble.
<Myke> But they're key to my humour.
<Myke> And very noteworthy.

My concert is on a school night, but it is 6 hours from where I live. I bet that the trip will be worth it.

I'm going to a They Might Be Giants concert towards the end of this month. :D Not sure of the exact date, but I'm pretty psyched because it's the first time seeing them perform live and I bet it'll be totally awesome.

...As for concerts of my own presentation, I'm not sure when our next Band (you know, symphonic band for school) concert is, but I think it's pretty far away... might be the Patriot's day parade, actually.

The bands I've seen live (and liked):

  • Foo Fighters (support The Mess Hall, Kaki King)
  • The Black Keys (support Dr. Dog)
  • Buddy Guy (support Keb Mo)
  • Parkway Drive (support local bands)
  • I Killed the Prom Queen (support local bands)
  • Soundwave 09
    -Bedouin Soundclash
    -Alice In Chains
    -Funeral For a Friend
    -Chiodos
    -Lamb of God
    -Minus the Bear
    -Every Time I Die
  • John Mayer

I think that's all. I haven't been to too many gigs considering how many are around. I'm getting a job soon though so I'll be able to afford to go to more than like one every six months. I'm annoyed, I missed Franz Ferdinand and The Cribs in the SAME gig because I'm not eighteen. I've missed so many gigs because they're over-eighteens. Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing Sonic Youth, Metric, Jack Johnson, You Am I or Broken Social Scene live. They're my want-to-see list.

EDIT: Oh right, that reviving rule. Forgot this forum had it, my bad.

S'okay, I don't complain about it much anymore; new posts are good and all.

As of writing, I've been to two rock concerts: They Might be Giants in March of last year, and Michael Franti and Spearhead (some R+B band... I went with my relatives ^^;) earlier this year. As you can see, I'm not much of a concert-goer. xD Perhaps I'll see a few with my friends this summer. I should put that down as one of my goals: get into new music.

I also went to an a capella concert at my school this winter, does that count? xD Guess not.

I've never been to a concert before, but I am now planning to go see one soon. =D I'm excited; I've never heard of the band, but I listened to some of their music, and I like it, so~
