This isn't about the Mayans. This isn't about asteroids. This is about my religion, born Christian. So if you're offended by this religion, just please don't review the topic. It's that simple.
Well, I believed this. In fact, I'm the one who realized it. I've been depressed a bit lately. Maybe it's Winter, or maybe it's just the single question: "Why live life if I don't have time to fulfill it?" I don't want to ramble. If you post, just contribute to the topic? Thanks. |

That's interesting, but honestly, I do not believe it. Why? Because Christianity is only one religion, so for the many who believe everything the Bible says is the truth, there are also many non-Christians who do not. The world would not end centered around that one passage in the Bible. Also, it's important to note that Barack is president, which is completely and utterly different from a "king". President and King could not possibly be the same thing. A king is the head of a monarchy, which is the opposite of a democracy. As for the year 2012, there's always the chance Barack will be re-elected. I've seen other claims of Apocalyptic events in years like 1999 or 2000, and none of them have happened. Personally, I don't believe in an apocalypse in general. The "world" cannot end-- Earth could end, but that's not for another say, 5 billion years, scientifically. You shouldn't feel depressed about the end of the world. What ends will end; right now just concentrate on living and pursuing happiness :D |

I don't believe this. Actually, it's more like I won't. Prophecies in fantasy are great, and in fantasy I love them. But I associate prophecies with just that, fantasy. I simply won't live my life like the world will end in four years. We'll never know for sure when the world will end until it happens, and I won't freak out about it only being in four years when it could easily be in billions of years. So, I'm not worried. ^^ |

Read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and then say that again. I simply cannot take apocalyptic stories seriously anymore after reading it-- it is excellent. ...The date of 12/21/12 comes from the Mayans. The circumstances in this instance come from the Bible, and I'm not sure when the book of the apocalypse was written and whether it's exclusively Christian (New Testament) or older, and therefore pertaining to Judaism and Islam. EDIT: didn't see that part at the top. "King of the world" is prolly referring to an antichrist or similar. Relax. The only thing that's gonna happen is that Mayan calendars will become obsolete. But incidentally, take another look at that date: notice anything special about it? Hm? Maybe a certain forum Admin's eighteenth birthday, perhaps? Edited by Zephyr, Jan 21 2009, 08:06 PM.

I'm so schizophrenic... I feel this way sometimes and other times I feel like I'm on top of the world. Yeah, I just really wanted to bring up a pretty strange connection, ya know? |

Ok, I think I've come up with the ultimate 2012 apocalypse gambit- give me a chance. If you sincerely believe the world will end in 2012 then in 2011 spend all the money you have and live a year of opulence and luxury. If the world doesn't end, then you are basically ruined (anyway?). On a side note, if this is true, then how will my capital city ever get to host the Olympics?
