Camelot Testing Committee; Where the testing happens...

Ok, so hopefully at least a few people are willing to come on board the Testing Committee and help out. Here's me with my fingers crossed X

Head Tester:

Some useful settings:
Before you launch the game, go to configure and you can turn on Cheat mode and Edit mode, both of which may prove useful.

The mod menu:
If you go to camp, then to take an action, you'll see the new mod menu. Therein you will see lots of choices. They should be self-explanatory, if not let me know.

Formation controls:
Speak to your companions to assign them as leaders of a battle array.
Then go to the camp menu to organize the arrays.
You can change the controls for in battle in the camp menu too.

Other battle controls:
z will whistle for your horse, if you get off and it runs away
Holding block with a shield and then clicking attack will let you shield bash
After death, z and e will cycle through your troops so you can watch the action!

Other features:
Hire recruiters from town and castles you control, just pick how many troops you want them to get and pay them.

You may notice a LOT of messages pop-up. Some are there for testing, some are there to stay. If you're unsure about any of them let me know.

Hey, so it's uploading as we speak. Corndawg, I'll repost here what I posted before:
A) Balance between factions - are they on somewhat equal footing?
Balance between troops and troop trees - any that are under or overpowered?
C) Item Balance - I applied RCM changes, so how are the new weapon damage values compared with new armor values?
D) Testing all the new features - formations, recruiters, custom troops, shield bash, ecalibur healing etc - try to break them and make sure that the code is implemented properly

These are the big things i need to get tested out. D kinda goes hand in hand with playing, but the others need a bit more deliberate testing.

I have installed a Mod menu into the camp menu, which will allow you lots of freedom to give yourself troops and spawn enemies etc.

There's also lots of little things (like missing textures or w/e) if you find those please report them but they're not a priority.

Well, while it uploads lemme write up a little Tester's Guide for you to use.

Go to the tavern in Camelot and speak with the bartender to hire Noble troops and elite Custom troops.
You can run the shortened version of the Excalibur quest if you go to the tavern in Camelot. (Getting Excalibur will give you a huge advantage in fights).

Okay, a few reports here.

First: Saxons vs. Britons: RGL error, didn't get a chance to play. I was Saxons
Battle against Saxons with British army: All of them dead (except lord)
19 Fyrdmen
25 Thegn
51 peasant archer
44 Thegn riders
11 infantry
17 mounted infantry
3 Dane axemen
1 pikeman
15 woodsmen
VS.
68 troops, injuries and dead.
20 Sergeant at Arms
8 Man at Arms
Bedievere
me
16 Knights
5 Vet. Knights
16 wounded, 35 dead, 15 unscathed.

I then tested with Saxons against brits, I lost hideously. I went again and got the error. The brits may be overpowered, I'll check tomorrow, g'night.

Yeah, I'm terribly worried about the Brit cavalry being overpowered =/

What was the RGL error?

Hmm, also perhaps worth noting - I am testing with battle-sizes of 200. What are you using?

A couple of bugs found:

Camelot Castle is in the same place as another castle and you can't get to it, even if somebody attacks it.

The innkeeper in Camelot Town asks if you want to skip this quest (?) click yes, and the game says "press left mouse button to continue..." so I do, but nothing happens

A strange purple floating thing is in some battles. I don't know what it means. Is is a bug or intentional?

EDIT:

Village Fedner is on the water

Armor shop RGL Warning: Unable to find mesh_surcoat_blackwhite (got stuck on shop interface)

Excellent work! I've been trying to figure out which mesh was missing, now I can fix that!

Fedner has been moved (thought I had done that already, oh well). Camelot castle is disabled for now, I've taken it out to prevent bugs.

The purple thing was for testing, it's gone now.

I hate dialog. It's sooo annoying to get right. That dialog option is only supposed to show up if you've taken the quest to find the lady of the lake (if you talk to merlin in the tavern). It's a way to skip doing the quest itself, for testing purposes. DOH! Stupid npc names. It's fixed now.

New patch with these fixes, plus some tweaks (nerfed some Brit troops, also redesigned some formations to function a bit better). p.s. - These patches are not savegame compatible http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=1522

Also, for future reference, if you get any RGL missing texture errors, you can usually alt-tab, click OK and then go back into the game without having to alt-f4. Also, if you get stuck in a dialog screen, try hitting TAB.

Oh - and it's a bit superfluous, but if you get any good screenshots, don't forget to share =)

I've tried alt-tabbing. But after I do that, the screen will just stop there. I click return, but nothing happens.

Also, I can get some pretty good screenies of a 3 man army against 40+ looters. Everyone loves good, old fashoned looter slaughter, right?
