Was just wondering if anyone wanted to write game reports for their games.

Just a quick run down of major event and the such

even just quick bullet points about things you've learnt or are proud of or not so proud of

for example

- Whirlwinds are more annoying than i first thought

- Scouts are cool!

- Chaplain goes SMASH! [he has now earned the title Hulk]

- orbital bombardment is quite fun

- even terminators can get whittled down with enough people shooting at them

- and finally, dreadnoughts are great against infantry without a power fist =]

of course, these are my views, anyone else got some?

Tyranids are scary! - even though I avoided H-2-H combat with them, they are still scary! And when they are redeployed closer to your lines it is change trouser time!

Orbital Bombardment is an awesome asset - especially when you get two coming down in the same turn. But it was the secondary fireworks that did the proper damage. Just ask Dark Knight.

If you play the eldar right they are the dirtiest army ever in 40K... I hardly lost a game with my Ulthwe army... Richard now has them but has failed to realise the greta power of the Seer Council

Dark Knight - none of your stuff took any damage!! Rhino exploding with the contents of Khorne Beserkers all dying, that is the obvious example from that game, neverminding the damage that was caused by the exploding Rhino itself!

LittleD - you are right about the fact that I don't know the full potential of the Eldar, but how often do I really play ? lol :D

Ruminations on tyranid tactics – AKA battle report – or a sorry excuse for one – 10/4/08

Incredible movement from Hormagaunts – a blessing in disguise was a penetrating hit on a razorback which immobilised it – so marines had a unit conveniently sat there that I could assault and edge an extra 6 inches (or 12 in the case of the Hormagaunts) towards the juicy infantry. Add that to the number of attacks they got when they assaulted (unit of 20, so 60 attacks when they charged!), and I was clearly having fun!!!

In fact the whole army moved pretty quickly, as (for once) I got some decent fleet rolls.

Wooden spoon award has to go to my ‘hannibal’ lictor (yes, awful – I know), who in 3 rounds of close combat completely failed to even scratch any of the squad it attacked, and then it got killed! However one of the Carnifexes did a fine job of chewing up a Predator, and hats off to the Zoanthrope’s surprisingly accurate (psychic) shooting.

I tend to include a lot of synapse creatures, so I don’t suffer from the poor Ld of smaller creatures – as long as you pay attention to which broods are in range of which synapse creatures, things go a lot smoother. The only time a unit did end up out of this range, they lost a combat, fell back – into range again – promptly regrouped – just in time to attack again as it was then my turn – more extra attack dice!

I also got lucky when a squad of Terminators teleported into a bad location and lost 3 members – big sigh of relief there!
