I obviously have too much time on my hands if I'm able to make something like this. Rather than a simple vote, I'd be interested to hear reasons for people's choices - whether they're background or gameplay related, or both. I've listed the major chapters, apologies if I've missed someone's favourite, but there's an 'other' option too. I'll kick things off by voting for my own lot (naturally). I chose Imperial Fists as I'd previously played as Blood Angels and Dark Angels, and wanted an 'ordinary' chapter, but one that not many people did. So, Ultramarines were obviously out, - and then I read a White Dwarf article about the fists, and that settled it. Of course, I then had to think about painting all that yellow... |

You've missed out the greatest chapter of them all. It is said their gene seed comes from the Emperor himself and he wont be happy you forgot about the Grey Knights. |

Bah! A foolish oversight! Unless someone knows how to alter the poll, they'll have to be 'other'. I guess the fists will be getting excommunicated soon then... |

Ultramarines - mainly because every one links them with noobs and people who cant play for toffee, so think they will have an easy win. So i always get to play lots of games and generally win alot. Also i like their histroy havent read too much of it but from what iv read in white dwarfs and codexs it all pretty cool. |

The Blood Angels are the nobelist of all chapters Sanguinus made the greatest sacrifice for the emperor and now his chapter pays the price for that sacrifice there geneseed is tainted with the death of there primarch and any who succomb to this black rage are borne away to the death company. There curse is there greatest weakness as well as there greatest strength and they bear it with pride and dignity! You can list all manner of chapters since the first founding so maybe you should of listed only the first founding chapters as a lot of chapters have been missed out! Oh and if anyone has any questions bout 40k background just give me a shout and I will fill you in as best I can! Before battle, some Blood Angels succumb to visions of death and destruction brought about by the sacrifice of Sanguinius. Those that fail to quell their waking nightmare become a member of the Death Company. "To face the Blood Angels in battle is to face the unbounded fury of the Primarch Sanguinius himself. To oppose them is to invite your own doom. They fight like madmen, possessed of a bloodthirst wholly unnatural and abhorent. That something more than fervant faith drives them to their acts of bloodshed is certain." - General Alexandro, XXV Imperial Army |

Raven Guard are the coolest out of the Primarchs that remained loyal. If i had the choice i would be choosing Mortarion or even Night Haunter. but alas nooooo we can't choose unloyalist chapters. Corax and thus the Raven Guard is because of there fluff! it's so wicked and beats all the other primarchs. Roboute Gullimen wrote a book.... greaaaaaatttt...... Rogal Dorn didnt like the book.... and failed to save the emperor.... greeeaaaatttt..... Sanguinius died even though he had forsight... so he's a muppett for even attacking horus... idiot... Corax on the over hand: The Raven Guard took part in the doomed assault on Istvaan V, the location of Horus's headquarters after he turned to Chaos. The Raven Guard, together with the Iron Hands and Salamanders, were decimated when the four Legions supporting the attack turned traitor, nearly destroying the Loyalists in the process. Corax returned to Deliverance with orders to rebuild his Legion as quickly as possible. Forced to sit back and watch as the Imperium teetered on the brink of collapse, Corax turned to tomes of ancient knowledge detailing the risky process of gene-seed zygote acceleration. Despite warnings of the terrible creatures that might be created, Corax ordered the Apothecaries of the Legion to begin the process. There are no records of the first results of the process, but rumours stated that the monstrosities created using these techniques were herded into battle by their brethren; barely one in ten able to even hold a bolter, let alone use it. Amongst these, there might have been one in a hundred with a stable enough genome to become an actual Space Marine. As the Horus Heresy built into a full galactic civil war, Corax and his Marines were slowly able to rebuild their Legion, playing what parts they could in the greater war. The Raven Guard's talent for small, covert operations behind enemy lines were able to partially offset their lack of resources and manpower, but it wasn't until nearly a century after the Heresy that the Legion was able to fight in meaningful numbers. Corax had rebuilt his Legion, but at a great cost. The dungeons below the Raven Guard's fortress monastery echoed with the howls of the deformed monsters created by his order. The Primarch agonised over what should be done with the bloodthirsty monsters. After much agonising, he finally decided that he should administer the Emperor's Peace to every single one of them, personally. He did so, praying for both their souls and his own. When Roboute Guilliman drafted the Codex Astartes, it was met by much resistance from many of the Space Marine Legions, but Corax was in support, allowing for the creation of the Black Guard, Revilers, and Raptors Chapters during the Second Founding. Following this, Corax is said to have locked himself away, praying for forgiveness from the Emperor for his transgressions. A year after he had locked himself away, Corax emerged, haggard and wild-eyed. He commandeered a shuttle and left Deliverance for the Eye of Terror, leaving only a single word as his valediction, "Nevermore...". ... Nevermore.... THATS JUST SO COOL!!!! Corax was teh emo. |

another good site for Marines (and others) background is Lexicanium. They seem to have most of the 'official' chapters - ie ones that have at some point been referred to in published gw material over the years. |

The Legion of the Damned gotta be the most awesome!!! Fearless, Terryfying and the coolest paint scheme in the Universe. Not only that but everyone is scared to play them with their original rules!!!!!! For the Emperor - even in death. |

I like space wolves only slightly more than all ther space marine chapters because of their affinity for close quaters combat. I feel this makes them most simmilar to chaos. as well as this i feel that the fact their primarch was then taken for the name of an imperial guard tank is pretty funny due to the fact their a close combat orientated army. |

I voted other. I think my fav pre heresy would be Luna Wolves. White armour, no nonsense style of warfare, cool captains Like Loken. Post heresy I guess it’s a toss up between the Space Sharks and Rainbow Warriors ha ha ha ! Nah, I like Bennett answer most. How true is that the mightiest chapter is treated like a jumping off point for the hobby. Yet they are the classic example of Space Marines. If I ever done a Space Marine army I think it would be a hard choice between U.M’s or L.W’s. |

Blood Angles, I just love the "Black Rage" rule, a bunch on blood hungry marines stopping at no cost to kill the enemy is just beautiful. |
