A test battle of my newly written Tyranid army list (2200pts) against my other newly written Space Marine army list (1800pts but the extra 400 were made up by Space Marines getting deployment priority, choice of board edge, and having 2 objectives at the beginning).
It was a take and hold objective with 6 counters scattered in 6 different sectors. 4 sectors of the board also contained a city which gave who ever in it a 2+ cover save. (counters were also located at the middle of the board, board is 6' by 4' and deployment edge were the long edges).
The space marines deployed in the city and already have 2 objectives. Tyranids had genestealers in the southern part of the city and the rest in open land.
The genestealers started good by having destroyed a dreadnought, a biker squadren and 2 tatical squads by turn 3, before getting gunned down by termiators, command squad, 3 different characters and a scout squad.
The command squad got destroyed by a biovore launching bio-acid mines in its' direction, and by getting gunned down by a carnifex armed with a barbed strangler.
At the end of the game, all 3 characters had secured an objective each. The hive tyrant and carnifex had one each as well.
The game would've belonged to the space marines but it was declared a draw because, in turn 6, a terminator squad was sitting nicely on an objective in the top left corner (on the other side of the tyranids), but 4 were gunned down by 32 termagaunts, and the final terminator was destroyed in combat by the swarm of gaunts, which gave them the objective and gave each side 3 objectives each, making the game a draw.
The "nid" of the match was the gaunts for that great performance at the end of the game.
The "marine" of the match was the scouts for killing an 8 man genestealer squad in shooting and surviving 7 shots from barbed stranglers over 4 turns, (3 of the shots came from the carnifex it self).
But that was a good game and I think I've got a good nid army to use next week (marines needs a bit more work, and more in it).

well i played a odd game basically i swapped my army with tims so i was imperial guard and tim played as dark eldar lol    well for me not having an idea of wot to do lol i lost the 1st turn so tim straight away moved his raiders all the way across the map right next to my line lol not good but then again i lost 1 guardsman and the battlecannon on a russ luckly my turn was better as a ravager and 2 raiders were destroyed from my entrenched guardsmen and the mortars managed to hurt another warrior squad and the scourges as well but it still left 3 raiders left filled with a wyche squad, a warrior squad and the lord retinue :-/ i was expecting to take alot of casualties and the dark eldar lord was happy to do that as a squad of guard got obliterated but to my surprise i managed to hold up the wyches on the other side lol guard in combat still lost but stood firm lol and then i draw combat with the warriors as well lol. that left me my rocket squad to kill the last ravager and the heavy bolters the kill of more hellions in combat i was still holding against the wyches and i managed to wipe out the warrior squad when my ogryns charged in lol but that dark eldar lord was just obliterating the other flank as they always went 1st and they all had power weapons :-/  the last thing that happened in the game was the wyches wiped the squad they were fighting at last and moved on to the next unit but that left them in charge range of the ogryns :D which my ogryns were happy to do and managed to leave only 4 wyches left from the entire full squad which ment they ran away unfortunatly the ogryns werent quick enough to catch them. It was a good game as the ogryns were easily holding 1 flank but then again i was getting destroyed on the other by the dark eldar lord it would of eventually came down to the lord squad vs the ogryn squad with a couple of guard squads left and maybe 1 leman russ left but it was enjoyable if a bit confusing at times lol

Played the strongpoint attack mission again - lost it again! I think the attacker has the hardest job in that game, and even if I had remembered to move one of my squads in turn1, I don't think it would have helped much. The final nail in the coffin was my second terminatorsquad deciding to stay in orbit with their feet up - failing to roll a 2+ and make them put in an appearence.
At least I get to try being defender next week...

Now that is very unlucky deep strike rolls.
Oh well, hopefully next week the siege game will be better, even more since space marines are defenders, and my tyranids were made for attacking.

1000,pts Marines vs Chaos - 17/7/08
3 objectives to capture - table quarters deployment style
Narrowly missed victory last night - remembered too late that only troops were scoring. 2 objectives were well defended by me, but one of these was protected by terminators. Realised this at end of turn 5, then rolled 1 - game ended there and then - result - draw.

Yeah, I think that's gonna be something we all gonna be forgetting.

1,500pts Tyranids vs Chaos
Again for objectives - 5 this time. Lost lots of stuff to the defiler's shooting - I've never seen a scatter dice 'hit' so many times in a row! However, I was expecting this and my carnifexes (- who can now run!) got into a (some would say unfair) assault - will try to get a pic soon.
Called this one a draw at end of turn 5, as we would have had another turn, and several objectives could have changed hands again or become contested - there were too many possibilities.
