This is a story I've written for my Tyranid army called Hive Fleet Outcast, it explains how they were discovered.
More articles to come.

Hive Fleet Outcast
The Forgotten Fleet Of M41

Date: 998.M41 – 075.M42

The Distress Call (998.M41 – 001.M42)

After a year of fighting the Orks, Hive Fleet Leviathan was on the losing end and was forced to send out a distress signal to any passing Hive Fleets. Although, during the time this message was being sent out, there was a Warp Storm occurring over Octavius, and the message was corrupted by the storm.
An unnamed hive fleet was passing by at the time, but the message they received, was the same as the message that was meant to be sent to them. The message they received stated that Hive Fleet Leviathan was on the verge of extinction and that they required assistance, but the flaw was that the coordinates were wrong, which would’ve sent this hive fleet to a planet far from the Octavius and into another galaxy on the edges of the universe, but as this was a remarkably strong hive fleet, they only sent half of them to help, but they were sent to the wrong planet which left Hive Fleet Leviathan to be extinguished on Octavius.

50 Years Of Hell (001.M42 – 051.M42)

When the portion of the Hive Fleet landed on the planet, they’ve found no Tyranid or Ork species among the planet, which hasn’t yet been categorised. As they were about to leave, they were hit by a warp storm that lasted 50 years.
During the 50 years, they Synapse of the fleet was growing weaker and more and more of the Hive Fleet was reacting to their Instinctive Behaviour and causing chaos within the Hive Fleet. They were arriving closer and closer towards the edge of the Hive Mind, they were becoming an Outcast to the Hive Mind, a Forgotten Fleet, but, as they were becoming absent to the Hive Mind, they adapted their own Hive Fleet Telepathy.
Once the Imperium found out about this, they christened this Hive Fleet as:
Hive Fleet Outcast.

The End Of The Storm (051.M42)

When the warp storm had ended, the rest of Hive Fleet arrived at the planet to find the rest of their hive fleet, although they were unable to connect to then through telepathy, so concerns were rising.
Once they landed, they found spore chimneys and pools like on all planets that they have invaded, but there were no sign of any broods.
Suddenly, they came across a Hive Tyrant, but they were unable to communicate with it, as a result, the Hive Tyrant saw this as a threat and decided to attack. The original Hive Fleet was confused and was forced to destroy it.
They then went on with the rest of their search, but back in space, the bio-ships were attacked and destroyed by the ships of Hive Fleet Outcast. This left the broods on the planet without a main link to the Hive Mind; as a result, they all acted on their Instinctive Behaviour and died out.

The Unknown Necron Tomb (051.M42 – 052.M42)

Outside of the knowledge of Hive Fleet Outcast, there was a Necron Tomb beneath the surface of this planet that was yet to be revived, but as they sensed battle above the surface, they sent out a signal to a near by Necron fleet which was close enough to resurrect the tomb.
Also, an Imperium Navel base on a nearby planet learnt about this and called in an assistance to Macragge and gave the details and the amount of Necrons and told them about Hive Fleet Outcast, in response, The Blood Angels set course to the planet which has be categorised as: Planet E1, which means that this is the first planet this far out from the centre of the universe to be categorised.

The Battle For E1 (052.M42 – 075.M42)

On 052.M42, Necrons, Space Marines, and Tyranids all fought for this newborn planet. Since the Tyranids had made the planet barren, the Space Marines was forced to attack the oncoming fleet of Necrons as this planet is destroyed beyond repair.
While on the surface of E1, the rising Necrons and Hive Fleet Outcast waged war for 23 years which the Tyranids prevailed in as they had “home field advantage”.

The Rise Of Hive Fleet Outcast (075.M42)

When they destroyed the oncoming Necron fleet, the Space Marines had sent back a small battalion of ships to bombard the entire planet, to rid the system of the Tyranids and The Necrons, but they had an unwelcoming surprise when they arrived. The bio-ships of Hive Fleet Outcast were waiting for them, and they destroyed the battalion. They were now free, free to wreak havoc to the universe as the Forgotten Fleet.

this is fair enough. But your sentences seems to be jumbled up and repetative. Make a point, back it up with a fluffy reason, move on.

A Hive fleet can not loose contact with the Hive Mind. Otherwise Hive Fleet Laviathan would of lost contact with it. A warp storm would not cause the fleet to loose contact. Not a viable excuse, sorry. + Their own Hive Fleet Telepathy.... this would be picked up by the Hive Fleet and it would send out distress signals to all Loyal Hive Fleets to destroy 'outcast' thus refuting your 'forgotten' Hive Fleet.

If like the first portion who arrived on the planet without contact with the fleet acted on instinctive behaviour and developed a new telapathy whereas the new second half just dies.... not really......

A Necron Tomb.... this story is getting a little too exceptional.... Also if a signal was sent by the necron tomb... then 'Nids would sense it and it would of been destroyed before it could of been resurrected... also Necron Fleets do not ressurect the tombs but they are awoken from wars waging on the battles. So this tomb would stay dormant until the marines arrived and the war started that way.

The Blood Angels would not be mobilized by Macragge, An Ultramarine Second or Third founding... Thats more believable... Not the Angels...

Nope sorry. The marines would fight the Nids then the necrons would be awoken leading to what you've put here.
The Marines are forced to attack the oncoming fleet that doesn't exist?? and if the blood Angels had been mobilized that should be changed to "The blood angels destroyed the the necron fleet and then exterminatus E1... The end"

Also NO SORRY! the Necrons were alive alot longer than the nids so in fact they would have the 'Home Field Advantage' thus putting the ridiculous reason for the nids winning in the bin.... sigh... really... home field advantage is not a reason for winning a 23 year war....

Again.... if the Nids are fighting the Necrons for 23 years. Im pretty damn sure the BATTALLION of ships would easily manage a Exterminatus on the planet.. Also they would not send a tiny battallion to destroy an entire Hive Fleet. There would be at least 2 companies maybe even 2 seperate companies from many Chapters... I mean they did call Macragge.

thus ends my rant.

Its a good start... and for a first time i give it a 6/10. keep on trying

Fair enough mate, fair enough, I understand what you're saying, so yeah I'll keep that in mind, although this was actually written about 3 months ago (the link to prove it is here
(http://40kalliance.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=40K&action=display&thread=150) look at the date of it being posted, plus this version is edited slightly),
my knowledge of the races and how they act was not as accurate as now, by reading through the new rule book but I understand what you trying to say.
The next article should be posted in this thread some time next week. Too give you guys something to try to guess what is going to happen (some of you may already know as I've shown you my conversion model) it will be set even further into the future, even closer to time that the Imperium might be facing extinction.
Keep the reviews coming, they are helpful.

Edit: Also the reason for the necron tomb was too give the space marines an even better reason to blow up the planet, seeing that technique fail, if I do include necrons in the future it will be for a better reason.[redit][/redit]

Here is the new article.

The Metamorphosis

Date: 789.M42 – 802.M42

Background (789.M42)

89 years after the first galactic war that lead a race into extinction, another one faces that same fate.
After the war, the Space Marines has been reduced to 5 Chapters, each containing a limited number of companies with no way of building new ones because of lack resource.
The Ultramarines, now only contains the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 10th Companies.
The Blood Angels now on contains the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 9th Companies.
The Dark Angels, being in the heart of the war has lost the most, it only contains the 1st, 4th and 6th Companies.
The Imperial Fists now only contains the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 10th Companies.
And also, the Sons Of Sanguinius, one of the successor Chapters to the Blood Angels, only contains the 1st, 2nd, and the 10th Companies. Another thing that caused their demise was the strength of the Black Rage they suffer from. It was so strong, it lead the entire Chapter in the heart of the war to take on the main threat and destroy it, thereby ending the war but at a big cost.

The Tyranid race, now the strongest and most powerful race in the Galaxy, is currently rampaging through the Octavius system. All except from Hive Fleet Outcast, they are currently hunting down the last of the Space Marines, having grown so much in strength, the Hive Fleet is unstoppable.

The Idea (789.M42)

As a result of this, Chapter Master Tratos, Master of Sons Of Sanguinius, decides that the survival of the Space Marine race, all now depends on evolution of the race. He decides to expose his Chapter to radiation which contains Tyranid DNA, hoping to make his Chapter stronger and more powerful. This idea was kept quite from the other Chapters as he knows they will think against it without proof of success.

He ordered his Tech Priest to start researching.

The Challenge (801.M42 – 802.M42)

After 2 years of hard and desperate researching, the Tech Priest had finally discovered a way to make the Masters’ Idea a reality. But it will involve the capture of a Genestealer and a Warrior, in order to get the DNA.

Tratos ordered his Tyranid Hunters to carry out the objective. They go to The Rock, where the Dark Angels are fighting a Splinter Fleet of Hive Fleet Outcast, seeing the Dark Angels doing so well against the Splinter Fleet, Tratos orders his Hunters to carry on with their objective. The Hunter were able to successfully capture a Genestealer and a Warrior but at cost of the life of their Sergeant.

They take the prisoners to one of the Chapters Command Ships for the first experiment.

The Experiment (802.M42)

After finding a volunteer, the Sons Of Sanguinius starts the experiment. The Astartes is put into a transparent cube. As he is standing in there, he is emitted with radiation combined with the DNA of the Genestealer and the Warrior. After a few minutes, an unexpected side effect happened, the Astartes started mutating, his head and upper limbs were replaced with parts found on only Tyranid lifeforms, on his back, a life support system grew. Realising what happened, the Tech Priests, stopped the experiment.

The Metamorphosis started to grow aware of its’ surroundings, in the process, it breaks out of the cube, running a the speed of a Genestealer, it escapes into the ships air vents.

The Release Of The Prisoners (802.M42)

Emerging from the vent on another part of the ship, the Metamorphosis discovers the Tyranids prisoners. The prisoners spots the Metamorphosis, the Genestealer starts acting like normal, sneering at it, but The Warrior, having a stronger link to the Hive Mind senses an element of the Hive Mind in the Metamorphosis and tries to communicate. The Metamorphosis sees the Warrior trying to communicate with it. Seeing the Warrior not act like the Genestealer, the Metamorphosis thinks that the Warrior may be able to assist, as a result, it releases the prisoners, at the same a squad of Space Marines are running towards it. Seeing them the Warrior orders the Genestealer to attack them, it obeys, the Warrior following it into battle. The Metamorphosis, confused by this, decides to try to escape.

The Escape Of The Metamorphosis (802.M42)

The Metamorphosis travels down to the cargo hold, where it finds drop pod. Being half Astartes, it is able to operate the Drop Pod, being able to, it escapes in it, and travels to the planet below, which is only known as E5. The prisoners it left on board are destroyed.

Finding out about this failed experiment, the other Chapter Masters decommissions Tratos, and appoints Chief Liberian Kane as Chapter Master. Tratos is also executed for trying to alter the DNA of an Astartes which is a crime of Heresy.

Hope you like it.
The next article will reveal the history of the Sons Of Sanguinius.
