If you haven't seen this movie, then I suggest that you go and see it. It's so awesome. I was literally falling of my seat while watching it. K, it's about...War of the Worlds. Earth is attacked my alien forces that had buried thier weapons into the earth's soil way before mankind was created, and then one day, this mysterious thunder comes out of no where, and casues the buried weapons to be activated. They're huge, monsterous, and there's about one for every state in U.S, heck, they're planted all over the world. Well, they rasie, and start killing of the human race. I won't go any further, casue some people might not of seen it, but if you're a sci-fi fan then this movie is recommeded for you. <3 If you did see it, then discuss. |

(Note: Major spoilers and stuff.) It was Weird. So ridiculous I was wondering if holes had opened up in my head. I couldn’t believe the movie could actually be that stupid. To start with, there was something just basically wrong about giving the movie such a firm grounding in realism and then suddenly the guy’s running through the dusty remains of people as they’re vaporized by a giant –very odd looking- machine that climbed out of the ground. I was just like, “Seriously?” The whole thing was this really awkward pendulum between solid reality and “they’re joking right? Fertilizer?!” I wanted to laugh but everybody seemed to be taking it so seriously. But the acting was good. It was believable. (Whether that was what they were going for or not.) And the effex were SUPER. Loved um. It was cool. The ending was totally stupid. I mean, germs?! I found it very demeaning that we threw everything we’ve got at them and they never blinked; then the stomach flu knocks them down for the count. And I have trouble believing the aliens were watching over our planet for so long and it didn’t occur to them to get immunizations. It looked like they were only paying attention to the last ten years or so when we brought out the WMDs. And are we really to believe that there weren’t more aliens somewhere waiting for the pioneers to make the frontier habitable, who could very easily send reinforcements and meds. In the attack, the aliens were so meticulous –this just wasn’t in character. Then there’s the son. It really looked like he wasn’t originally intended to come back, but they realized there wasn’t much of an ending going on so… *tadaa!* (I noticed he must have arrived only moments before as his ‘sweater vest-wearing, not a speck of dust on them, where’s the wine glasses god dammit’ family had not taken the time to so much as wipe the dirt off his face.) But the real problem was that there was no explanation, no show that the boy’s character grew at all, no resolution between him and his dad… And besides, I had been looking forward to seeing the mother’s face when she realized her son wasn’t there. (yes, I’m sick. So sue me.) The ending came before its time. I wanted to see what happened AFTER all that. The reconstruction. The last battles with those pesky aliens. The riots and unlawfulness in the destruction. As a huge sci-fi fan and a loyal priestess of Lame Movies... I gotta say. I was not impressed. |

This movie was ace. I loved it. I don't recall jumping any, so It wasn't very scary sadly ;.; I went to see it with my dad and brother and they wouldnt shut the hell up. My dad's partially deaf so he was practically yelling when he talked. But thank god he didn't talk much. And my brother just wouldn't shut the hell up. Asking a bloody question evey 5 minutes. I was about to kill him >< But besides all that, I loved the movie : 10/10 |

Dude, I'm so late in replying to threads! LOL! XD Anyways.. War of the Worlds was a good movie. The effects were what blew me away and the fact that it was so realistic in terms of defining the human race was really done well. It sickened me how accurate it was portraying what humans would be like if something like this was to occur. But other then that, I would have to agree with what Moon Ray said. I wanted more plot line from the point that the son left to the point where he returned because realistically speaking, I was expecting him to make it out alive. |
