Since I'm not necessarily interesting in reporting on Frenchie Davis' polyp (another way American Idol has conspired to keep her down), let's get a few additional updates from late last week on talent and sponsors confirmed for the upcoming Idol Gives Back charity spectacular.

FOX has announced a new assortment of celebrities who will be lending their time -- either performing, presenting or popping up for pre-taped bits -- to Idol Gives Back, which will air on Wednesday, April 9.

Robin Williams, Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Billy Crystal, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Connolly and Amy Adams, plus American Idol veterans Elliott Yamin and Fantasia, will appear along with the previously announced Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart and Gloria Estefan.

Much of the Idol Gives Back festivities will tape on Sunday, April 6 and tickets are available to the general public via the American Idol website.

ExxonMobil and FOX's parent company News Corp will return as major corporate sponsors for the event, which raised more than $76 million dollars for charity in its first incarnation last year.

This year's charity recipients will include Children's Defense Fund, The Children's Health Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More and Save the Children's U.S. Programs.
