I don't think that most companies care to much if something is outdated. I mean look at some of the movies that companies have made; Starsky and Hutch, Bewitched, Dukes of Hazzard, all from old tv shows that before the movie came out nobody really cared about them anymore.
And maybe I'm wrong but I think Dragonball is way more popular than these shows ever were. Dragonball has a worldwide following. Can you really say the same for Dukes of Hazzard?
Yet Starsky and Hutch is the only great film out of that list.
Fox may not want to risk it.
