Oldboy's five years old for Christ's sake! What can Spielberg possibly hope to add to it by casting Will Smith?
Here's what he could add: Mainstream appeal for westerners.
Sad, but true. Infernal Affairs was only four years old when it was remade as The Departed.
I had heard rumors about this remake a long time ago. There had been some rumors about Russell Crowe playing the main character and John Cusack playing the antagonist. I think those two would've been really good. I don't mind Will Smith being cast but I'm not sure Spielberg is the right director for a film like this.
