First problem though is "terrorists as heroes". Politically Correct hollywood wouldn't even touch that. Just like they would never add in the Teddy Bomber episode of Bebop into a Bebop movie because he blows up buildings. Hell they took out scenes of spiderman crashing into random buildings in the old cartoon after 9/11.
I would love to see a Gundam Wing LAM, however, based on the ages of the pilots I have a hard time thinking Hollywood would do anything close to decent with Casting. Zach Effron as Heero Yuy!! 
I just don't trust hollywood with any action/drama, as they simply turn it into Action/blow-sh*t-up and play down the drama. Why satisfy multiple genres when you can totally pander to one audience. /sarcasm
