And then, there were people that actually agreed saying "This is a movie based on toys- how is it not aimed for kids?"...

That's much the same reasoning that leads a father to rent Ninja Scroll for his kids in spite of the R rating on the box and the warnings of the shop clerk... and then come back an hour later to complain that the clerk had rented his kids pornography.
