I am going to make a new AMV soon, and I want to know how I can rip video clips from Windows Media Player for my video.

You mean you want to rip DVD footage for use in Windows Movie Maker?

Unbelievably hard to do, even harder to explain. You'd need unheard of amounts of memory. I rip footage for making movies in Adobe and the only reason it works is because I can make special scripts which read the DVD data files. For WMM you'd have to totally recompress the data files into AVI, Mpeg or WMV files which would A: take hours, B: take up untold of amounts of memory and C: drive your video capture quality down even lower than downloaded clips.

So it's totally pointless to do then?

I've heard rumors of it being done, but for me it is far too benign to contemplate. I'll ask around and see if anyone I know has found a way to streamline it but I can't make any promises.
