Now that a Dragonball movie has been released and we've seen one direction. What kind of style would you like to see in future adaptations??

I've said it before. Don't "cgi" it. Don't "Sin City" it. Do it for real. I'm sure people will point to DBE as a reason not to do it real but that was down to bad film making on the part of those involved.

Lord of the Rings was shot for real and look how that turned out.

Set the movie in a not too distant future, a more utopian society for the most part. So when the likes of Vegeta and Nappa come, the Earth is completey unprepared for it.

Get rid of talking animals and dinosaurs, break the story down in to it's most basic parts, do the same with the characters then work from there.

As for how I'd shoot it. Well I'd use high speed cameras for some of the fights to really capture the speed of the action. I'd shoot as much on location as possible with the flying stuff obviously being done on greenscreen. I'd actually try to avoid using digital stunt doubles if I can...there would be some places where they are needed but for the most part I'd want to have the real actors in the scene.

Ki blasts would be like in the anime/manga, a more solid-looking beam or ball of energy (depending on the attack), the fighting itself would take advantage of the 3d nature of flight in that, if these guys defy gravity, then up doesn't always have to be up for them. they could fight upside down, or sideways, lead with fists, with feet, whatever works. The most important thing with the fights is the speed and intensity.

In terms of locations, as I've said before, some adapting would need to be done. The look out would go from a floating island in the sky to a temple hidden in the mountains, Snake Way would become an endless desert etc.

Costume wise...well I have Goku hair. If I let my hair grow and don't use gel or anything, it gets wild and sticks out everywhere. I don't think you need to get the exact pattern of Goku's hair in the manga, just make it look wild, as if he's been living away from civilisation all his life, which he has.

I'd definitely have the orange gi. The one good thing DBE did was show that the gi can be done.

As for tone...there would definitely be humor there but it wouldn't be lower than PG-13 so you can probably guess.

For Dragonball, I want a tone that mixes Chronicles of Narnia and Pirates of the Carribean. Narnia features a young cast and has a great fantasy/epic feel that I want from the world of Dragonball. The first Pirates of the Carribean is such a fun movie and that's what I want from the adventure aspect of Dragonball.

They should watch Kung Fu Panda and take some notes on how outrageous yet awesome fight scenes are done. Seriously.

...Waiting for you to offer up a good idea. Take your time. I'd hate for you to just say something that doesn't contribute at all to the discussion.

hehe lol...you guys...

I can't believe they accually go on after the disaster of the first movie. if I think about it, there's so much unexplained stuff and I have absolutely no idea what Dragonball reborn will look like.

There's so much questions that didn't had an answer in DBE. Now I think about it, how did Gohan already knew from Namek anyway?

Anyway...the thing is, if they should make a sequel (or just reboot it for God's sake..) they should at least set a different tone. The look of DBE was too much P ussy style. I mean, nowadays Hollywood doesn't have the balls to shock people anymore. They are so afraid that the PG rate will scare everyone off...

I don't say that DB should be as gritty as Sin City but Goku's yourney didn't feel like that huge of a struggle in DBE. Like in the fighting scenes (especially last one with Piccolo), if you throw a punch then THROW A FRIGGIN "PUNCH" ok???

In the animé you could really see people take a punch and crawl on the ground from pain, that kind of a thing I want to see in a movie. in DBE the fighting scenes were, sorry to say, "P ussy" style. You could tell they had practice this for some time and there was practically no sign of anger or fighting attitude...

So the thing is that Hollywood is too concerned about the Pg rating nowadays. Jeez is it so cruel to show the real consequences of giving someone a kick or a punch? Maybe the franchise should go to some independent studio lol.

I hate to say it, but Transformers ROTF actually had the tone I want for a DB film, fight scene wise. Make every entrance of a character dramatic, and Make every fight scene as intense as the Optimus vs. Megatron, Starscream, and Grindor. Everytime Optimus hit a decepticon you couldn't help but cringe a little because it looked like it hurt. Every moment in the fight had you excited. That's how a DB fight scene should be. Everytime Goku gets in his fight stance, you should have that real dramatic closeup like how everytime Optimus transformed it looked epic.

Also, I think they should try out a zero gravity simulator for in sky fight scenes.
