Ok, these aren't really new, but most people liked the ideas though they were never done. Comedy forum Spam/Chatterbox forum Just general titles there but name them what you want if you guys decide to go through with it. The comedy section could contain competitions that we all love oh so f*cking much such as "greatest stand-up comedian" and "funniest youtube vids". Idk, just coming up with stuff. I know some of the more active members support this, like Jake (though, I haven't seen him on lately), Jaybee, Danielle, and I'm almost positive Aaron would go for it. As for the spam section, it'd be a place where you can talk about anything random, stupid, ranting/venting topics, whatever. And posts should not count at all in this area, cuz I'm sure people will be posting there a lot. A good place for noobs to pull their dumb sh*t and get away with it. Don't get me wrong though, not all of it has to be stupid stuff. People can make constructive/off topic threads and posts there. Only difference is that it won't mean anything to your post count and again, it would be off topic.  Anyways, let me know what you think. I'm sure you guys have talked about stuff like this in the staff area, I'm just trying to push some past ideas (that at least I thought were good or ok) forward. Oh and I was also thinking about a debate section, but I doubt that'd work out well. We don't have a big variety of members so it's usually a couple vs the rest. =/ And I figured this stuff would be put in pastimes (seems like a good place). Maybe a comedy forum would work out under the entertainment category too. |

Sh*t. Sorry about the Comedy Board thing. That was pretty much unanimously agreed on. I guess it just got lost in the shuffle. I'll make the board when I get home from classes later. Should it be a regular board or a sub-board (for either the General Board or Forum Pastimes sections)? I'll wait for what the others say on a potential Spam Board. The idea had been passed around but nobody was certain. There's that whole risk of people still being spammy in the General Board and not in the Spam Board, making it a waste. I'll get back to you on that. |

Aight cool man. Yeah, about the location, I figure forum pastimes since general has no sub forums. It'd probably look better there anyways. And about the spam section, I'm not even 100% sure on that. Just know it works well on other forums from what I've seen (though they don't call it a spam section cuz that just sounds retarted). |

Sounds like a good idea Maff. I also suggested a couple of times that this would be a good place to put the Forum Games board as well. After all it is called "Forum Pastimes - This way, you can never get bored while you come to this forum...:D". It would fit in with Maff's Spammy, no post count board as well. Sound good? |

Don't know about the spam board. I mean is it really any different than the general board? Except we wouldn't get on people for smiley spamming. I just think giving people the ability to be more random than they already are will just backfire. Other than that, sounds good. |

But, the Spam Board would be more of a play thing, and if it is possible, you could make it to where the posts on that board wouldn't count. |

I think it'd be good, like LV said, to have an off topic board in the Member's Lounge. It'd be different from the general board since this will be the place to go for everyone to make their silly, pointless topics and go off on tangents freely. I don't think a full on "spam board" where posts don't count would go over well, especially since lately we've been having trouble with people execessively spamming and whatnot. But I think just an Off-Topic board would work. I've seen it work on many other forums and it's been in the back of my head to introduce for some time now. |

This is my thought on the subject. I can't really think of anything that has been listed for the "Spam Board" that can't/hasn't been done in the General Board. That is what it is there for, the random topics that don't belong anywhere else, where people can go off on tangents, etc. There is also the "Members Lounge" formerly the "Mature Board". My feeling is that this is less a "Mature" discussion forum, and more a general board for the more experienced members, where you can discuss random topics without the interference from noobs. My basic opinion is that an "Off-topic" board would do little more than redirect topics that could easily be put on the General or Member's Lounge sections. Having said that, it would seem that we are in need for a board for more serious intellectual talk. This is basically in the opposite spectrum, but still relevant. The General and Member lounge will be the place for topics that would generally go in the spam board. However, there are members who looked at the mature board as a place for intelligent conversation to otherwise sensitive topics that incite flame wars and tension. Thus, (and I've talked in the staff section about this, but I want member opinion as well) I propose this. The General and Member lounge will be the place for topics that would generally go in the spam board. A new board will be created, with the same entry requirements as the Members lounge. This will be called the Opinion Board, and will be a place to post subjects that you would like to discuss intelligently, such as gun control, politics, the death penalty, etc. without the bevy of random comments that has started turning these topics into jokes in the members lounge. Any such posts, or flame posts will be deleted in this section. It will be strictly for stating opinions and discussion. Name calling and inciteful badmouthing will be strictly prohibited. Of course, this is simply an idea, I am looking for feedback here and in the staff forum. If I have missed some greater purpose for this spam board, please let me know. I don't want to write it off if there is a more pressing use for it. |

Well it'd just be like a debate section. Debate sections on big forums are good but since we're so small, I don't think it'd work out so well. We've all seen the stupid fights that break out. And like I said in another post, because we have so few members, it mostly ends up one person vs a bunch of people. I like the idea, but just if we had a lot more active members. |

I understand that logic, which is why I proposed that it be done in the same vein as our Member's Lounge. We have had some good discussions in there, being that the generic noobs don't have access. The problem is we have a good debate going on that gets dragged down by silly posts, or single flames my our less mature members(no names or insinuations, just a generality). Hence RJ's post there. The silly posts have a place, but I was thinking we need a place fundamentally free of those. This new forum would have a strict ruleset of no silly posts, no flaming, no name calling. Just simple opinion stating posts, or opinion challenging posts, such as what we had with the Death Penalty discussion. As I said, anything to be put in the "Spam" board could, ostensibly be put in the General or Member's Lounge boards, we just need the contrast from that to separate the two. |
