If someone is willing to pay for it, how would you guys feel about switching to vBulletin? Right now, as cool as it would be to have that type of forum, I say no. Simply cuz we're not very popular/active. It'd be somewhat of a waste. Although it may help us out in gaining members, a big risk. If you feel safer waiting til we get more members/activity, it may not be a bad idea. We just need someone who is willing to pay for it ($160). I would be ok paying for it, but not at the moment. And under some important conditions: Staff (admins) would have to learn how to use it very well, use all of the features as best they can, and be at the top of their game (being on each day making sure everything in the admin control pannel is going well). They would basically be posting less and focusing on the tech side of the forum until we're comfortable with it. And the posting of rules and faqs and what not after discussions in the staff area, would be the responsibility of the moderaters. The mods would consist of highly active members who know the forum very well. People who could keep things in line. So we'd have a few admins and a lot of mods. There would be a hella' ton of work being put in, more so than we're currently doing. I know it's a lot but we'd have to take this place a lot more seriously if someone's gonna pay money for it. But yeah, I would love to see us heading in that direction one day and it'd take a while to set it up for us to move to, but as long as people stay on task and focus, I think it'd work out very well. |

If the Zetaboards switchover remains in limbo, and we do get way more members, I could foresee a vbulletin switch. It's more expensive but it'd probably less prone to problems compared to invisionfree. Like you said, it totally depends on activity and who's willing to pay (or multiple people chip in). We'd have to get much much more activity by 2009 or 2010 for it to be probable IMO. |

Definitely. Oh and about the Zetaboards, what's the news on that exactly? Have you guys made a thread explaining everything that's gonna happen and a faq on zetaboards or any type of info? I've got a ton of questions/suggestions for you guys if you haven't noticed.

Effectively Zetaboards shouldn't require any coping on the members side. The biggest difference is the Admin CP, allowing large customization and easier coding. As to the status, the link to convert this board to Zeta is in our CP, but for one reason or another isn't allowing us to convert, saying the root admin must be the one to do it, and though Gosh is root, it won't let him do it. We're working with IF/ZB to figure it out. As to vBulletin, I agree, we'd have to have a LOT more traffic. We're getting a good amount of action on the homepage, but the forum is still lacking. I personally wouldn't be comfortable with anyone spending that much on this site without a huge increase in activity and membership. |
