Chapter 11: Let The Fun Begin! Freeza stopped a safe ways away from the little “mess” he had created for Goku. He turned, folded his arms and floated there watching Goku fly around like a man gone mad trying to rescue as many as he could before the bridge would collapse. As the damaged structure finally gave way and Goku went diving into the water after the last survivors, Freeza tossed back his head and let out a sickening laugh. “Oh, too bad”, he laughed, “Looks like the little “Hero” failed this time.” As he turned to go and return to his search for this Superman he was after for the human, Goku was just leaning over Lois’ limp body. A blue and red blur caught his attention out of the corner of his eye and he turned back. “Nea, what’s this?” he wondered aloud, “Well, it looks like I don’t have far to go after all.” He watched as Superman flung Goku straight into the air with ease. “This is going to be more fun than I thought”, said Freeza with a wicked smile on his face, “I’ll just sit back and watch these two fools destroy each other and then I’ll finish off whoever’s left. Then I’ll take care of that measly human for dragging me into his mess. He doesn’t know who he is fooling with!” ******* Jimmy crawled over to Lois and cradled her head on his lap, “Are you alright Miss Lane”, he asked. Lois tried to sit up, spitting water. At least the color was coming back into her face. “I’m fine”, she said sounding cranky. She looked around in a panic, realizing the camera, her PDA, everything was now at the bottom of the river. “Dammit!” she swore, making Jimmy blush a little, “Guess I’ll just have to write this from memory when I get back and hope Perry doesn’t hang me out to dry for not having any pictures to go with it.” Suddenly Jimmy started feeling around in his pockets and found the first card he had swapped out of the camera earlier. Thankfully, it was still dry. He waved it in front of Lois’ face with a sly smile. “Jimmy, I love you!” she spouted and hugged him around the neck really making him blush. “Let’s get out of here for now”, he said, “It looks like those two are going to fight and if I were you, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near here when they do.” He helped Lois up and walked her off the remains of the bridge onto the causeway and dry land. They found what seemed to be a safe place to watch and wait. ******* Superman was on Goku in a second, landing a rock hard punch to his jaw. It sent the Saiyan flying, but he managed to stop himself in midair. “You don’t understand”, began Goku, “I was only trying to…” He couldn’t finish the sentence. The angered Superman had landed another punch in Goku’s midsection, making him regret the fact he was fighting on an empty stomach. He swore he could feel that fist go all the way through and hit his spine. As Goku looked up he saw another punch headed his way, but this time he grabbed Superman’s fist with his hand and stopped it short. Superman swung with the other hand and Goku also grabbed this one, stopping the attack. Superman’s eye’s glowed an anger red. Goku tried to reason with the incensed Kryptonian one more time, now that he had him under control, or at least he thought he did. “This was all Freeza’s fault. He’s the one th…” He never finished. Superman had brought his right knee straight up and slammed it into Goku’s chin and then finished his somersault backward to face the Saiyan once again. When his knee made contact, Goku had bitten his tongue and was seeing bright stars. “Ow, that hurt!” he said sounding pouty. A trickle of blood ran down the corner of his mouth as he ran his tongue around his mouth feeling for the cut. He spit blood and whipped his mouth with the back of his hand. “I guess you aren’t in the mood to talk”, said Goku getting serious, “Well then, if it’s a fight you want, you’ll get one!” He sank into first position, waiting for Superman’s next attack. |

Chapter 12: The Bold and the Maleficent Lois took a minute to catch her breath and Jimmy was barely able to move. Surely the two of them were used to super fights but the phenomenon taking place in their wake was literally out of this world. Fist by fist, the extraterrestrial duo continued to clout each other mercilessly as the earth quaked under their feet. The hundreds of people once submerged into a watery grave now gazed, stupefied at the equivalent strength of this ominous new face. "I've seen and photographed a lot of strange things but this takes the cake." Jimmy remarked as the earth's rumble tossed him to the ground. Lois' eyes shifted. She stumbled trying to stand while signaling Jimmy to follow her. "We've got to get the hell out of here Jimmy. "How?" He asked. "Our van is underwater and we're standing in the middle of a mountain range." "The pioneers traveled for miles on nothing but their own two feet, don't hear them complaining." "Maybe that's because they're all dead." "Just shut up and come on." Scowled The ambitious journalist. Picking from her blouse her cellular phone she shook it violently demanding a response. "Come on work you piece of sh-" Beep it went, interrupting her shameful denunciation. "Hal," She cried, talking into the receiver. "yeah, listen--we have a problem. Jimmy and I are stranded at the Hoormount Bridged, or at least what used to be the Hoormount Bridged. That's right baby, the story of a century. Picture the headline: Superman Vs. Superman! I Like it." ------------ Luthor paced the floor, agitated and unnerved. Racing through his mind were millions of questions seeking answers: Who was this mysterious yellow blur, what was this mysterious yellow blur? "Boss! I found something!" Mercy exclaimed. "Show me!" Mercy's fingers were hard at work, pounding the keyboard as the giant screen zoomed in on an unclear figure. Mercy adjusted her glasses as she spoke. "I've hacked into the Daily Bugle's security camera system and I got a good glimpse of this image." Mercy zoomed in once more as did Luthor his eyes pinned to the blurred figure before him. "Increase resolution." Luthor demanded. "Yessir." Mercy replied. The image became easier to make out with this request, Luthor was quite sure the form was that of a human being. "I don't believe it." Commented the maleficent leader. A lopsided grin stretched across his evil face as he stared into the screen. "Mercy, prepare a pod. I just had a stroke of genius."
