I'm considering buying this sometime soon but I'd like to have some opinions from people who have played it.

Is it better than Sunshine?

How innovative is it? (normally, every other Mario platformer features something that defines gameplay for other platformers in their generation)

Is it fun?

There are other games that I'm considering to buy. But I'd like to know from people who have played it if it's worth it.

Haven't played it yet, but the credible reviews have been nothing but positive. I'll be borrowing it tonight from a friend so I'll let you know my thoughts when I get a chance to sit down with it.

I've played through it and it's definitely a must own for every wii owner. Definitely better than sunshine, which i did like. There's a good amount of level variety and some cool power ups. It's definitely in the running for being the best looking wii game. My only dissapointment was no Yoshi. Seriously, there are very few games you should consider buying ower Galaxy. The only ones I can think of are:
Legend of Zelda Twilight Prncess
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (if you've got friends to play with. if not than it's not really a good 1 player game)
What other games are you considering? Maybe I could help.

Well it's good to know that you're considering buying it, cuz I wanna play it too :P

Anything would be better than Sunshine. Mario shouldn't have to depend on a sidekick, dammit!

I don't think it is better than Sunshine. Mario Sunshine was an okay game, in its own right.

However Mario Galaxy is overrated and has annoying camera angles.
... I didn't actually like it at all to be honest.

I loved Sunshine and all, but I thought the whole story revolving around using Fludd was kinda stupid -.-

I dunno, I'm excited to play Galaxy, then I can make a good judgement =]

Well I really enjoyed Sunshine, and I've enjoyed Galaxy even more. You must get it RJ, 'tis awesome. I only just got to about the halfway point of the gam (where the observatory starts working fully) but I've seen a lot of what thi game has to offer and it's been amazing. The level design is excellent, great visuals, and while the controls may take a little getting used to, it's a great nw innovation.

I thought the game is good. It was a ton better than Sunshine. If u have a good tv then the experince will be beter. The levels are extremely creative an fun to play. But one bad thing is when u beat it the game gets boring. unlike sunshine. but it is a staple for a wii owner along with brawl and Twilight princess.

Alright, the games I'm considering to buy next are:

-Super Mario Galaxy (of course)
-Speed Racer (not just because I like the movie, no...it's just that it reminds me a lot of F-Zero and I loved that game)
-Super Mario Strikers (I always wanted to play the first one but never had the chance)
-Wii Fit (I mean, I think it's a perfect way to take advantage of your Wii. The price though...)
-Super Smash Brothers Brawl (I'm sure it's fun and I'd like to have it but the only problem is that I was never very good at the original, which was the only one I played)

But yeah, I already own Twilight Princess. I kinda wish there were more worthy RPGs out there right now...

Even if you weren't good at the original Smash Bros. this one is great. It's actually a little easier to pick up and play.

As to Galaxy, I finally got a chance to play it and it is loads of fun so far. I liked sunshine, but didn't really like it as much as other Mario games. This one is a true sequel to Mario 64. The only downside so far is that you are navigating on every axis since the planets you are on are spheres. Makes it a little hard to get used to. Other than that, fun times.

I now own SMG, (I'd played a family member's copy before) and I seemed to enjoy it far more this time I played it.

It's not a perfect game, it might be too easy at some parts- which is counter balanced by having fiddley levels. But still, it's loadsa fun.

I'm not sure if I prefer Twilight Princess or if I will like Smash Bros. more than it, but it hasn't dislodged my favourite Wii game from it's top spot: Resident Evil 4.

I played it at Best Buy, but that was before we got the Wii, and I looked completely stupid. Of course, all the passerby had to stop and watch me play. I wanted to go in a dark room so I wouldn't make a fool of myself. I couldn't even figure out how to get to the first level -.- Maybe it was just a demo version.

Ok, I've got through 2 full galaxies now so here's a primer.

(I'll leave out spoilers)
After the opening sequence you are on a space station called the Observatory. You are asked by Rosalina to retrieve the Power Stars and Grand Stars that have scattered, to repower the Observatory and find your "special one" that bowser has kidnapped (one guess as to who your "Special one" is). There are a series of rooms on the observatory where you can see each galaxy. A galaxy is made up of a few worlds, maybe some special worlds, and a final boss battle that unlock as you collect Power Stars. Each world has 3 stars for you to collect to start(except special worlds which contain 1) and just like Mario 64 you enter the world, get a star, leave, rinse repeat. After you get a certain number of stars the "mischief comets" begin appearing. These appear on worlds you have opened and let you replay missions to get new stars, but with a catch. Depending on the comet you may have a time limit (speed comet) or only 1 health point (daredevil comet) or something else. There are also a few secret stars you can find.
The boss battle in each galaxy, which is generally the last one unlocked, merits you a grand star, which increases the power of the Observatory and unlocks a new room and a new galaxy to explore. (The game supposedly has a total of 120 stars to collect, plus one bonus star once you get all of them.)
The general play style on worlds is the same as Mario 64, having standards like the jump stomp, crouch backflip and quick-change summersault. There are 2 ways to defeat enemies; jump/stomp on them as always, or spin at them(an ability you gain at the outset of the game) and then run into them. As you play, you gather star bits, which are small crystalline balls that are plentiful, either hidden in grass, falling from the sky, or from defeating enemies. You can collect these by running through them line coins or by pointing the Wii-mote at them. You can also fire them at enemies, obstacles and other things by pointing at the screen and pressing the B button. This adds a bit of a 2 player action to it. As you are playing, anyone can pick up a second Wii-mote and simply point to collect star bits and shoot them at enemies for you. This reminded me of Tails in the old sonic games where a second person could control him to help you out, but it's not really required.
As always, mario has a few power ups to help him out. The tried and true fire flower suit is present along with 2 other new outfits. The first you get is the Bee Mario suit, which is a mario mushroom colored in black and yellow stripes. It allows you to fly for a short time, as well as cling to honeycomb walls. In the bee world it also enables you to stand on flowers which generally would not support Mario's weight. The second is the Boo Mario suit, which turns Mario into a Boo Ghost. I haven't gotten this one yet, so I don't know much about it.

All in all, this game is as addictive to me as Mario 64 was.

The game is way too short.

I know it's Mario and the Mario games don't carry the biggest lifespan, but I completed it in four days.

Four days!

It took me 40 hours overall to complete Twilight Princess.

 Why Nintendo? Why?
