Wow, because Chi Chi was never judgmental or snooty at all throughout Dragonball. I mean, her dad was considered a king and she was spoiled.

Wow, I am so outraged by her being a popular girl!

:P

Vindictive
1) disposed to seek revenge; intended for or involving revenge: (VENGEFUL)
2) intended to cause anguish or hurt: (SPITEFUL)

Heh, you beat me to it. Chi-chi's character is possibly the one I'm the least concerned about. Everyone else's is being shown to be spot-on with every tidbit we here, and she was never that deep a character anyway. So long as she still fits the description of "lovestruck action princess," it's all good.

But also, are we all forgetting Ms. Chung's interview from a while ago where she described Chi-Chi as being "born to kick ass?" Plus all the tidbits earlier that describe her as being a tough martial artist in her own right? Being attractive (and Ms. Chung is SMOKIN' hot)pretty much means automatic membership to the "in" crowd at any school, so that's not too much of a stretch. But at the same time, it doesn't leave any real mark, positive or negative, on her personality. I'm getting a vibe from this version of Chi-Chi that she's the type of girl you'll often see quasi-stereotyped in manga/anime; the ones who are charming and popular and pretty in public, but then in her free-time she's the top student at her dojo who can beat all the boys. And then later when she becomes a mom, she still kicks ass. Best comparison I can come up with is Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin or the title character from Suzuka.

As for Ms. Kirksey, I can't help but get a bit of the same impression from her as I did from Mr. Battle's last interview. Seems she may be hyping up her own part as a little bigger than it truly is. But who can really blame her?

Well what I see happening with these two characters it this. Emi and ChiChi are best friends, we know that already. I'm going to guess Emi is the more vocal one, the more outspoken of the two since it seems she decides who gets to be in their clique or whatnot. Like you said Kaboom, she's a kick ass fighter, not something you expect from a preppy teen beauty queen.

Since football players are in their clique, they hang out with Aguandes and Carey Fuller. Goku is supposed to get into a fight with Aguandes and Fuller, probably from trying to talk to Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi feels sorry for him, and that's probably when she distances herself from Emi and the others.

1. Thanks for the info.

2. “Popular kids”?...Well, the good part is that the high-school part will at least about 15mins or so. But “Popular kids”? I just hope Goku won't act and keep on saying “I wish I was popular...So then Chi-Chi can like me”.

Or even more of a twist and stretch.. possibly Videl??

It looks like they are partially merging two female characters into one. Not reallys sure how far they are going to push the other movies into he saga's but i I doubt it will reach Teenage Gohan years So I think its's a safe bet to say merging some characters has gone on here...

Also Goshin you gonna spoil the whole movie for us or let us watch it? :awe:

The gripe isn't that this is an inaccurate depiction of Chi-Chi. The gripe is that this high school bullshit isn't just present but actually seems to be a focal point. That's what worries me.

Yeah. But Goku's already Chi-Chi's "childhood friend," so it's not like he's some shy kid who's trying to work up the nerve or something.

I agree. So far I can take what 20th Fox change in the story line, but if Goku is just going to fight so he can "Get the girl", then that's going to be a problem.

I'd just like to pop in again and make sure we all realize the movie is NOT going to just be a high school drama with martial arts, right?

10 minutes worth of school-setting scenes with 2 or 3 forgettable characters does not negate the other 90% of the movie all about adventuring and hunting DragonBalls and the Budokai and King Piccolo wanting to rule the world and Goku's Saiyan heritage and Grandpa Gohan's dying wish and Roshi fulfilling it by teaching Goku and the combat and the espionage and the kickassery, and all the promotions of things NOT high school-related, like ancient temples and Bulma with guns and motorbikes and Goku in his awesome-looking gi, and Chi-Chi and Mai's sexy fight in their sexy outfits, and Yamcha and the awesomeness that is Piccolo that they're teasing us by not showing his face and yadda yadda yadda...

Just because there are a few little details that don't quite match up, that doesn't mean we should ignore the good stuff. Yeah, there's some stuff in a school. They probably are mixing some Gohan/Videl-like stuff in there, since odds are the movies won't span that far into the original series. But that's not inherently a problem in itself, and is all dependent on HOW they do it. For all we know, this could not only br Goku's first time at a school, but in a city at all.

Just saying, let's not jump to conclusions and judge the entire movie based on a few little details we don't like. I've been saying that from the beginning.

I know, I know...It won't be a very big deal in the movie. Hell, maybe they (fox) might not even show it (but yet...That's a draem). But I do know many *COUGH* TRUE FANS *COUGH* are going to B#tch about that in the whole movie. Even if the whole movie after the high-school part are going to be cool, bad-ass , and "WOW!!", the *COUGH* TRUE FANS *COUGH* are just going to remember the high-school part.

I just hope when Goku is in high, he won't act like "Being Popular" will be a big deal. And I was kind of hoping Chi-Chi won't fall in the " Popular kids " world. But I do see how this is going to happen....

"Goku is in school, not very smart, but yet a very friendly guy to everyone. Later on Goku likes Chi-Chi (as a friend) and Chi-Chi likes Goku (a lot, with some odd reason) . But Chi-Chi boyfriend Come up and trys to fight Goku, they fight, something happens, etc. Chi-Chi finds out that being " Popular" won't get you things in life (or something like that) then she leave her old boyfriend and go after Goku, becouse she know that Goku is her true love."

Or something like that. I'm just going to close my eyes in the high-school part and wait for the real movie to start.

I know I'm acting like a d***, but hey!...Thats my opinion. But I still think this movie is going to be ok or good.

I came to the conclusion this movie isn't gonna be good... Fox is doing terrible with these adaptations....Babylon A.D was horrible...and the director blamed that fox didn't give him no power at all...it just brings my hopes way down... hopefully Max Payne can end the cycle but I'm sorry..this isn't looking good at all

I think the reason why Babylon A.D didn't went so well, becouse Fox are not advertising so much in their movies this year. They might show one trailer in only one movie, and once the movie starts coming in 2 weeks or so; Fox releases t v commercials of the movie and starts saying "Its coming"...

Fox need some help...
