my hopes and dreams over the last 10 years have come true my dream od dragonball has returned

According to DBthemovie Fox will preview Dragonball at Brand Licensing Europe (Official Site Here). The Expo takes place in London from October 1-2.

Also, a forum member over at the site claims that the following information was revealed in Fox’s 2009 slate (keep in mind this is just a rumor):

The film is in final stages, 90 minutes long, likely PG-13, first in an on-going series. Major video game adaptation out next year, leading comic book company publishing new manga series based on movie. New animated television series in development.

my view is they are gonna destroy toriyama manga and anime, i'm fine with a movie but americans are trying to recrate a master piece, unless toriyama is writing it will suck

Cool find, kmccaskill. I look forward to some news from the U.K. soon. As to the rumor it is just that so far, but some of it makes sense. Video game tie-ins are common nowadays and it will be interesting to see the characters animated for that. Also any action figures that may pop up will be very cool. The manga sort of makes sense too. There's been a new format here in the states for a few years called ani-manga that essentially uses screen shots from the tv show or movie as illustrations and dialog from the show inserted. They're aimed mostly at the younger teens who have seen the show and prefer that storyline to read instead of the original works. New anime? Not so much, I think. Only if they turn it over to a Korean animation house to draw. American artists pretty much stink when it comes to cartoons with only a few exceptions and the computer animated stuff is still too clunky for my tastes. The whole thought just brings up GT nightmare really. Again its just a rumor, so I'm not getting all bent out of shape over it.

Even though it's a rumor the, idea of a "NEW" animated television serie & manga base off of Dragonball are reall bad idea's.

The U.S can't really make a good animated television/movies serie now and days. It seem's their 2 rule's in the U.S about animation:

1. Must be for kids
2. If it's going to be funny, MAKE FUN OF SOMETHING!

Though the cartoon's in the 90's and some of last 4 years ago were pretty good. Batman ( 90's), Spider-man (90's), X-Men (90's), Tiny toons, Samurai jack, Megas XLR, Ed, Edd n Eddy, and so on and so on. But right now in todays Cartoon here in the U.S...SUCKS!!!! Yes, Dragonball got a lot of Funny part that we all know and love, but also got the action that we can't for get as well. And I can't see the U.S can do that like the original.

As for the manga...NO! I really don't need to read that...
Don't say it, do it!

Avatar The Last Airbender was pretty darn good. Those people making it would probably be the best chance for it to be decent. Generally most cartoons do suck now though.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is the only good American animated show and I would be fairly disappointed if they made an animated series and didn't lean towards that style of animation but instead something really unnecessary like VG stated earlier, a 3D animated series. I'd rather they just leave the whole concept alone. I'm not totally against a Video game or a Manga version because chances are they won't even remotely live up their predecessors. It seems like Fox is really trying to market this movie post-release, maybe thinking "It'll need all the help it can get". If they think this is helping, they're short a few in the head.

I know this wouldn't happen but I would love to see the fights of the series re animated with the same dialogue. I kind of hope this series doesn't happen. I think a good remake is possible but this will just be a cheap cash in like the Speed Racer cartoon.

i would too. I understand that the American style of animation is just in the shitter. Its not creative at all because there really isn't any demand or huge need for a creative explosion or improvement in anime. However, this movie is creating an interesting phenomena in the animation community. Think about it. Movies tend to create offshoot projects because of how lucrative they are, which in turn occasionally inspires the creative brilliance of industry professionals. If Dragonball turns out to be a national hit, which is very possible I think, then it has the potential to revive anime single handedly. It could be the trigger to slowly bring more creative power to the art. And if that is so, although I would hate to see a masterpiece from a brilliant artist remade, it could therefore be the key to to better American anime. And if so, then a continuation of Dragonball in the distant future could potentially have much better artists to choose from. Of course, a better continuation of DB anime would have to be after this new rumored anime series ends- which might not even happen- and have enough popularity to start another series. Basically, I do support a continuation, but would rather see a remake.

What I would like to see rather than a new series is a DVD like the one they did for that Matrix and Dark Knight. Six or eight new stories by other anime artists that pay tribute to Toriyama's work. I think that would be sweet and I would love to see what other anime artists do with the characters in terms of drawing style and and storyline.

That sounds really cool! Batman Gotham Knight was very entertaining
About American animation, it seems to have devolved. Here's how I see it: In the beginning there was wacky yet classic stuff like Looney Toons. Things slowly got more serious eventually leading up to Batman the animated series in the early 90's. This decade also had solid shows like Doug, Hey Arnold and Recess. However once Spongebob came around things started to get crappy. All the American animators thought kids wanted silly shows with no depth. Now we're in a generation of Looney Toon wannabes who have the silliness but lack the wit and charm.

I couldn't agree more especially since im obsessed with Avatar lol, Most American cartoons are not that good but Im going to try to have faith in Fox on this one if its true, As of right now its only a rumor. I would like it if they were going to do a new series if they used the voice actors who worked on DBZ, maybe Fox should get FUNimation involved if they're going to do a new DB series.

do not compare batman's production with DB's production. the first is too dmn good. DB's production is not as good as batman's. not at all.

and I don't know, is this animated series going to be based on the movie?, because that would be just retarded, we already have a tv show: the one the movie is based on.
