And it's all over! I was pleased with the outcome. 2 big news items, first is Miami trouncing the Jets to secure their division in the face of a New England 13-0 shutout, dashing the pats' playoff hopes. Second is the 4 game win streak that gave LT and the Chargers a playoff berth in what seemed like a dead season 4 weeks ago at 4-8. So here are the official playoff brackets for the 2008 football season. AFC Leaders East - Miami Dolphins - 11-5 y North - Pittsburgh Steelers - 12-4 yz South - Tennessee Titans - 13-2 yz* West - San Diego Chargers - 8-8 y NFC Leaders East - New York Giants - 12-4 yz* North- Minnesota Vikings - 10-6y South - Carolina Panthers - 12-4yz West - Arizona Cardinals - 9-7 y x - Clinched Playoff berth y - Clinched Division z - Clinched first round bye * - clinched homefield advantage AFC Playoff Brackets Wildcard Baltimore @ Miami Indianapolis @ San Diego Divisional (Bal or Ind/SD winner)@Tennessee (Mia or Ind/SD winner)@Pittsburgh NFC Playoff Brackets Wildcard Philidelphia @ Minnesota Atlanta @ Arizona Divisional (Phi or Atl/Ari winner) @ New York Giants (Min or Atl/Ari winner) @ Carolina (For divisional games if first team listed loses their game then the second option will take effect.) Playoffs... what are playoffs. Not sure I've ever heard of them. On a sidenote, I really like the fact that the Browns are STILL the only team to beat the Giants. I hope the go all the way again, and have that one little itty bitty lose... to the Browns. That'd make me feel a little bit better. |

Not much change in the AFC, but now it looks like the Vikings have taken over the NFC north. Don't count the bears or pack out yet. Sadly, while Cleveland isn't completely out of it, unless Denver takes a complete dump they are out of contention. Honestly the AFC wildcard right now is a battle between Indy, Baltimore, Buffalo and Miami, with the Browns, Texans and Chargers holding on to pipe dreams. I am quite impressed with the Dolphins though. With their win last week and key losses by the Jets to Denver and New England to Pittsburgh they are tied for 2nd in the division, edged out by tiebreakers. They are only one game behind the Jets(2 games to get in, because of tiebreakers). |

Don't say that too quickly Jester. Dallas is still in at seed 6. If they can hold it up against the eagles they are in, and if not they could still be in, at least if miracles were to occur. Anyway, lots of action coming in week 17, as it should be. Game of the week in my opinion is going to be Sunday night at Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego California as Philip Rivers and the Chargers see if they really do want this division or if Cutler and Mike Shanahan are going to break their 2 game losing streak. |

So everything is set for the playoffs, surprises/predictions? Who would've guessed Falcons, Dolphins and Cardinals to be in and not the Patriots(I guessed it though!) and the Cowboys. I do think the Cardinals and Dolphins are one and done. |

Last week went just as I wanted it to. Fins, Eagles and Chargers worked their asses off, they deserve to be in. Romo pretty much self destructed at the end of the season. Must have been pretty high tension in NE after they won, though the Jets probably didn't have their hearts in it, since that killed any chances they'd get in. And to think, until 2 weeks ago, they were leading the AFC East, and with 2 losses they end up in 3rd. I'm glad to see Miami get another shot. I'll update the top when I get a chance. |

Hell yeah they did. I laugh at Dallas. And New England. Now only if Baltimore had been knocked out of the Playoffs.. |

Well, it was either Baltimore or NE, I'd prefer Baltimore. I think Miami can take them. Luckily though, unless it comes down to the championship game, Pittsburgh won't have to face Baltimore. That would make a cool rematch though, but I think they'd be 3rd time lucky and take us down. |

Winner once again for the forum NFL picks. My pick for the SB is Indy vs. Carolina with Carolina getting the win. |

Well, so much for that pick. I have a sneaking suspicion that San Diego might make it to the big game, then lose to someone like Philly. |

I saw that outcome coming with the Dolphins/Ravens game, but I thought the Chargers would be one and done. I still believe they don't have what it takes to go all the way, the Ravens on the otherhand are on fire. That is one team I wouldn't want to face right now for several reasons. While on the NFC side, it's kind of a similar situation. I feel like Cardinals = NFC equivalent of the Chargers and Eagles = NFC equivalent of the Ravens. My prediction for the championship games/Super Bowl are: AFC: Ravens@Pittsburgh NFC: Eagles@Carolina Superbowl: Pittsburgh/Philadelphia |
