So much for constructive criticism. But yea, echoing what Thrash said, get your friends on here, they seem like real characters. |

may ask the purpose of these webcasts... are they informative? or just for plain entertainment? Edited by Lebanon James, Dec 6 2008, 08:40 PM.

I edited the original post of this thread several times, and after the major edit I made a notice in big red letters. Anywho, this is what I said in particular: "... I feel as if this webcast is an oddity -- it has very little in the way of direction, it has very little to do with anime, and it so far has had very little to do with this forum, with the Bonus Footage 17-post thread being the exception. Hopefully I can make changes to these issues over the winter break." Why am I even here at all? That's a good question. I don't really know much, if anything, about anime. Volchok asked me to help him try to breathe a small amount of life into the forum, and I've obliged (and it's been really fun and absolutely rewarding in terms of the responses many of you have given). But do I know what I'm doing? ... Nah. So I'm all like when trying to figure out how to do this stuff, and sometimes the result is me just being and and then a bit of and then we just wrap it all up in and we get , because the whole process is so bloody comical.Webcast 1 was just an introduction, to force Volchok and me to actually get started. Webcast 2 was in production limbo until I decided that I'd include some content from an event I was planning with my friends. How the Czech does that collide with a webcast to LAA? Entertainment, hopefully. I see some of you have found the recent clips entertaining. That's just fantastic. But I was too busy preparing the event and making the weapons to be able to properly plan it out in terms of a webcast, and so I just decided to station video camcorders on tripods in the area. One of my friends graciously decided to play impromptu cameraman after we shot the scripted Oak vs. Volchok (Alternate Universe Edition). I took that footage and posted some here for entertainment. Once I post Oak vs. Volchok AUE tomorrow, we'll move on, and HOPEFULLY there'll be a little bit more rhyme and reason as to why I'm showing you guys these webcasts. Webcast 3 will finally have Volchok and me answering questions. BUT: He and I live 12 miles apart. He does not drive. I do drive, but I do not own my own car. He and I go to different schools 4 days a week. I work for-hire on weekends as a tutor and computer technician, and I do my homework then. Fridays are the only day that Volchok and I can meet that also coincide with an available car for me. However, I have family obligations in terms of taking siblings places, etc., and so sometimes Fridays are out. Volchok is technologically impaired, and he shares a computer with his family, and so Skype didn't work out (Norton ate it, and I couldn't tech support Volchok through reaching into that beast's belly). Volchok is really fluid when writing on this forum, but in real life his speech is more stunted, slower, and very much quiet. (Sorry Volchok.) I was proud of him when he did that impromptu "Volchok" bit in this second webcast -- it was completely unexpected. But when we sit down and try to record audio for a podcast or try to do a webcast, it's a slow affair, because he knows where we're going in terms of making the conversation fit with this forum, but I'm the faster and more dominant speaker. (Our phone conversations concerning other matters are 98% me speaking and 2% Volchok speaking, to give you an idea of this.) Additionally, Volchok has, can, and will talk about things that I shy away from. In real life, when I'm not playing the part of someone else, I am very much influenced by a particular philosophy, and so I often run into conflicts with potential answers to questions AND with potential methods of answering them for the webcast. In order to be entertaining, I naturally defer to self-deprecation and physical humor instead of cussing, vulgar language, or vulgar concepts. (Not that Volchok necessarily invokes those three things...) ........ Anywho, these are the things Volchok and I must overcome every time that we do have time to meet up. I'm not trying to make excuses for the slowness or the lack of direction, I'm just trying to show you what an oddball pair he and I are for this webcast. ------------------------------------ ------------------------------------ To sum it up, Volchok and I have no idea what we're doing except while we're doing it. We strive to entertain or to inform, but not necessarily both at the same time. And it's never a guarantee that we'll do either with any amount of clarity. The webcast is a throbbing amoeba that's just waiting to move in the next direction, find another link to make it to the next rung of the evolutionary ladder. I foresee this webcast, in the future, as being more of a vehicle of entertainment that may possibly revolve around the nutty family that is this forum, but I can only promise that Volchok and I will try to make watching the content worthwhile. I can make no long-term promises about the content itself or the direction it shall take. Hopefully, at some point, Volchok and I can take this webcast on the road, to a convention, perhaps, to meet up with some of you. But that's a bit in the future, and so now we can only look toward the present, or back at a questionable rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. @Thrash & Goshin: I'll try to get my friends on here, but the chances are slim because they are often very busy (or else lack an internet connection). But I'll definitely try. At the very least, I'll pass your compliment on to them. EDIT: @Volchok: C'mon, mate, it was a valid question. Just because he was blunt doesn't mean he doesn't love us. ... Curse my habit of writing at length, you snuck something in against him while I was wheezing along. Edited by Oak, Dec 6 2008, 09:28 PM.

@ Ms. D -- Yes, that was probably my favorite part, as well. And it think it redeems anything he did (or rather, didn't do) in Oak vs. Volchok, Earth Edition. (Heck, lifting a grown man off the ground and sending him backwards 10-20 feet should earn him a man-of-the-year nomination.) @ Flooffy -- Awesome! And... the kid was a relative of the host of the event. He stayed out of the way of the camcorders for most of the day, but I think he enjoyed being around us, and I think he envied what we were doing. I think what he said/did during our singing was just a manifestation of his trying to control a little bit, of trying to be a bit more equal to us (lunatics that we were), so that's how I justify his jarring interruptions. EDIT: Please head to the main post to see all three installments of this webcast. If you only want to watch the newest segment, however, choose the third one: Oak vs. Volchok, Alternate Universe Edition. Edited by Oak, Dec 12 2008, 05:19 PM.
