I can't help feel that brancing out to cover live action adaptations, anime and manga in equal measure could go a long way to getting more members. I know it would have little, if any, impact on the respective anime and manga board, at present. But the problem is with the main page. It's all news. Mostly about live action stuff. Some stuff about anime and manga but it's all release dates and upcoming shows and stuff like that. And most people who come around looking for news don't really hang around long, I reckon. I mean, not even any of us members leave comments on those articles. One or two, here and there. Every now and then. The main page may have lots of informative articles but aside from two reviews, that's it. Oh, link to the forum and the podcasts. But the main page seems so lifeless that I bet most people don't care. They read the news and vanish again. I reckon by branching out we (and by we I mean any of us who can actually be arsed) can create all kinds of info databases and image galleries and trivia banks and all kinds of sh*t. I dunno, would we need some kind of license to do that? And you may be thinking that won't do f*ck all but I think it does, I think it makes people hang around a bit longer, read some of the bios on their favourite manga or flick through some anime stills. And even if they go after that, they might come back again. It shows life. It makes this site look like more than something a couple of guys update once or twice a week. It makes it look more like something that's been worked on and developed. And that's what I think will attract good, active and enthusiastic members. Yeah, get your sniggering over with Elder. You may think it sounds crazy and I appreciate if some of you don't value my opinion since I haven't been very active of late but I think you should give it some thought. |

That what I'm trying to do with my LAA Anime News section on the home page but I'm not around 24 hours to update it. |

I don't know a whole lot about anime so is there anything anyone can tell me so that I know when something is worthwhile to post? Perhaps I'll just stick to posting things that have new trailers. That way I don't post something and everyone is like, "What the hell did you post that for? That anime SUCKS!!"

I agree with an expansion of news coverage. Does anybody here have, well, not necessarily an extensive grasp of anime, but a well-rounded grasp? And is willing to update the homepage fairly often? (Doesn't have to be every day) This forum is clearly directionless, and I'm questioning the appropriateness of the roles we have. What I mean by that is I've only updated the homepage once so far in my tenure as admin, and the piece of news I posted (the Gatchaman movie concept art), I only came across by a stroke of luck. On top of that, I found out afterwards that Goshin already posted that news a few months back. So I'm thinking that Live Action Anime news is too hard to come by because it's such a confined subject with a confined niche. Expanding to regular anime and manga news may be smart. |

I was actually thinking that (and I know people might not like this idea because it takes us even farther away from our roots) we can just become a Live Action Adaptation site instead of just anime and manga. Think about the amount of comic book movies coming out or movies based off of books and other cartoons. Anime and Manga can still be a huge part of the site but with all types of adaptations at our hands, it'll give us a lot more to elaborate on with the homepage and it could possibly bring in a lot of different people. With that, we can do a lot more with Jake's idea. |

Well, we're already doing that to an extent. We are covering Thundercats and Voltron. There was another non-anime movie we covered too I think. But I don't want to go too far outside the realm of LAA. I think being a niche site is fine, and if anime movies can get the same boom that superhero movies did, then we can expect to ride that wave. At the same time, I do think we'll continue to keep up with popular anime and manga news as well as the anime and manga based on the specific films that are coming out. |

Ok, but the forum is pretty much- hate to say it- depressing. We have done this long enough with the hope that after a few of these movies have come out that it would be more active... and it isn't. It hasn't been, even after the trailer for Dragonball. We need to change something, because it isn't working how we would like it to. |

PHPBB I know everyone hates the idea of losing everything but with the way things are I think movie to a much better looking forum may help a lot. |
