My attitude towards towards Evangelion is one of consistent scepticism and unsurity. My attitude towards it is much the same as that I have towards Dream Theater in the musical arena; I'm never sure if I like it or if I just admire it from the perspective of a dispassionate observer. I'm willing to grant that it tells a very intelligent yarn on a previously unprecedented scale, but that doesn't negate the fact that every second Asuka is on screen is like having a pot scourer taken to your genitalia.

Generally you can't just write a script, take it to a studio and say "make this." They won't even let you in the gates. Even more so on a property already owned and licensed. If it is your own intellectual work they might consider it, but if you are writing based on something like DBZ or Eva and try and sell it without consulting the owners of the property it's called copyright infringement and the film companies will laugh you off the lot. Vegeta is right, the company that procures the rights to make an Eva movie will hire a writer that they want, they won't just accept anyone's script. They'll hire a writer who will work with the licensor of the property to properly adapt the title for the screen.

It was pretty epic in scale to begin with, but as well it was overly-intrinsic, to the point that it seemed they were taunting the audience with a "ha ha, you don't understand this, do you?" attitude. I'd see it, but probably only once.
