It's Cold Outside...; and I'm like a block of ice

So it's been a really cold few days here in the US Midwest, as I'm sure it has in the Northeast and Northwest as well. And it's going to be -5 F tomorrow, and that's without a friggin wind chill! :NOWAI: Best part is I get to be smack dab in the middle of downotown Chicago and deal with the BEAUTIFUL lake effect making it 10-15 degrees colder in addition to the wind chill. Seriously, this is the coldest winter I can remember. It's been icy, snowy, wet, and I've lost track of how many times I've wiped out and landed right on my ass this season.

It's so bad it makes me think that instead of global warming, we should be worried about... global cooling. Everyone, do your part and release as much CO2 into the air in the next few days to make the earth warmer. ;) But really, try not to freeze in the next few days guys.

When it comes to global warming, you're the last one who should be worrying. An area as far inland and at as low an altitude as the midwest will have little sway held over it by the shifting North Atlantic Drift and rising sea levels. Enjoy your cold winter. We here in Scotland have virtually forgotten what snow looks like over the last ten years.

The seasons are getting weird, we used to have our coldest times around late January to the start of February here in Denmark, but these years it's Marts...

Usually we should have something between +2 and -5 C at this time of the year, but we're having +5 to +8 C in the day atm we have +3 C

I've only had to turn on the heat for like 5 days this winter 0o
Granted I save a little on the heating going for 19-20 degree C indoor instead of 21-23(but the money is spend on power instead :/ )

Coldest temperature we've had this winter is -8 C as far as i know in my area so 17.6 F according to the converter.

Coldest I recall having here would be minus 18 C years ago

Then you know exactly what I'm talking about with the lake effect. :awe: We'll just have to tough it out Luna, and wear like 17 layers of clothing whenever we go outside. :P Damn, I'm not looking forward to walking in the city tomorrow!

I just got an internship at a Chicago sports radio station and I'm going to have to walk half a mile from the train station and then back again at 10 PM. I wonder if I should just waste some money and get a taxi instead...

But yea Thrash, I'm really not too worried about global warming, I'm just saying a lot of people are. As long as the Great Lakes don't overflow or something, I think we're good. I just can't beleive how (relatively) warm it is in Scotland and Denmark. I would've figured it'd be just as cold or colder than it is around the US Mindwest.

If we lit the world on fire...

Or if we split the earth's crust to let the magma up...

...my frozen joints would surely appreciate it.

Yep same here in South central Wisconsin right on the Illinois boarder. I live out in the middle of the country right now so our roads are never plowed and even when they are they have about an inch of ice on them.

Your right Goshin the last few years have been a lot worse. We've gotten record breaking snow fall last year and then this year we beat last years in December, and now we are getting close to breaking January's record as well. Last year when spring came around we had bad flooding because of all the melting snow.

If you remember last winter I fell and busted up my knee so bad I had to get surgery on it. Well guess what this year I fell and busted up my other knee. Turns out I don't need surgery on this one. I just partly tore some of the ligaments they'll heal by themselves lol.

Well just took a look at some information on Wikipedia.

Apparently the 55 N degree where Denmark is, is the same as Moscow and also about midway up in Canada.

Scotland seem to be 55-58 Degree North so what do you know, Scotland Is further north then Denmark(Unless you count Greenland :p )

The Golf Stream Is what keep up warm, and the Global Warming is weakening that.

We don't get the extreme colds nor extreme Heats here dour to all the water surrounding us.

If it wasn't for the Gulf Stream, Scotland would have the same climate as Siberia. Furthermore, I live only a scant few metres above sea level. As such, it's really in our interests to go green at the moment.

Recyclin' is for suckas! sh*t, I reverse-recycle dawg!

I don't like this extreme cold we're getting, but I'd take the cold over summer-like conditions anyday. I hate all the bugs and humidity that comes with warmer weather.

I must say I would much rather have the heat. I love hot days. I mean, I could thrive in 105 degree weather. I'll go play baseball or swim or something. ^_^ But right now, damn you can't do anything. It's even too cold to play hockey unless you have 50 pounds of pads and stuff on, moreso to keep you warm than protect against checks.

I'm the complete opposite. I thrive in the cold. Hot days make my grumpy and want to punch someone. I don't however like it when my nosehairs freeze the minute I step out the door. Its so cold here, that my digital thermometer can't even register a number.

I operate better in cold as well. To me, anything over 20 degrees C is intolerable for long stretches. Give me the crisp bite of a clear winter's day.

I'd still prefer not to end up like Siberia, mind.

I say that we throw a lasso around the sun and pull it a tad bit closer, or envelope the world in a time machine and take us to summer.
