So what is your thoughts of the ceremony for the 44'th president of the United states of America?
And more important how well did you think he did?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjnygQ02aW4

My own thoughts on this video:

Quote:

Minor problems with the oath(be it insecurity, pressure or the noise responsible)
It was done and that's that

Good speech
many promises about change.
We can't expect them all to take place these coming years, never the less he eased the work for predecessors.

I didn't notice anything about growing human populations though. This is one of the most important areas where change is needed, to archive the promises without this will be near impossible.

And that is all he got out of that, apparently.

Ouch! Lol!!

I did watch it and man I love it when reality sets in. He said a lot of things his supporters weren't expecting to hear. I think they all expected immediate fixes to everything and that he was going to start troop withdrawals first thing this morning or something. I noticed the wild cheering stopped and what little applause he got was very quiet and polite. Bush's State of the Union addresses got more feedback on the floor of Congress than this did. Sounded awfully Republican up there. The dew is off the rose folks and I think we'll find reality is not as pretty as the fantasy we've been having over the last year. I give him six months before we start hearing "Obama is a (fill in the blank with four letter words)!!" and "Well, I didn't vote for him!" It's inevitable.

... i didn't vote for him.

Honestly I'm just glad the hubbub is over and he's in office. Hmm. Wrong words. I'm not glad he's in office. Whatever. It is what it is. Nothing's changing now.

O and for the record we already had a black president, Bill Clinton.

Hey!!!, lol. Im a serious Philosopher that always states the obvious. :studious: B) I thought Obama's speech was one of the most charismatic speeches I have ever heard. But im concerned about how much people love this guy. He's becoming a celebraty. Its good to like your president, but not to the point that you praise him. Its ridiculous . Some people are saying he's either the messiah or the antichrist. lol

Yes, because I totally was expecting the troops to be withdrawn in the next few weeks. And the economy to be fixed with the flick of a wrist.

Nope- he has a lot to clean up, and yes, it sucks that he has to start his presidency when the country's state of being pretty much sucks. But who ever wasn't expecting this needs a reality check.

And yes- I voted for him. And I am glad he wasn't trying to dance around our problems with a big smile.

Not all his supporters thought he would magically fix everything. Of course some people did, but that happens with every candidate's supporters. There were people who believed that McCain would make Bin Laden surrender to his knees out of mere fear of such a war hero.

I hate to do a football (s*ccer) analogy, but if Sir Alex Ferguson started coaching the Nicaraguan National team today, I wouldn't expect Nicaragua to be able to beat Italy after one week. Hell, I wouldn't expect them to beat Italy even after 100 years of having Ferguson as coach. I don't think they would even beat Panama after 1 month. However, many people would expect that much from them and that's normal.

With Obama, I'm sure many people think that he would be beating all our problems in no time, but I know how much there is to beat, and it'll take time to beat it.

Well, it was a definitely a historic day I can say that. I heard that Obama re-did the oath after him and the Chief Justice kind of messed it up. Third time that's happened apparently. Now we just have to wait and see what he does these first 100 days in office. While I many not agree with some of his policies, we can agree on one thing...

The White Sox are the superior baseball team in Chicago. :awe: He made that clear when he was talking to those officers during the ball. Seriously, now since Obama has made wearing this hat cool...

Posted Image

...all White Sox fans including this guy here...

Posted Image

...are now cool by association. Yea, leave it to me to make something as petty as baseball relevant to this topic. -_-

I think it's awesome that I witnessed history. I know that he can't fix everything all at once, or even in one term. But I'm still hopeful. There's no point in living without hope :D

what I loved most about that day was how everyone in my school came into the student lounge to watch his speech and was cheering him on... I looked at the crowd and there were Whites, Blacks, Mexicans, Asians, and some Natives and I just felt this sense of Unity for the first time, When we were in there it didn't who you was, we are proud to support Obama, our 44th President

Also things I've noticed,

During the musical piece with Izhak Perlman, Anthony McGill, Yo-Yo Ma and Gabriela Montero

I saw Unity in that

A AmericanViolinist
A Asian Cellist
A African American Clarinetist
and A Venezuelan piano virtuosa

I just felt something what does Musicans of those races play a beautiful song during Obama's inauguration
