yeah I know...I think we better wait with our speculation after the box office is revealed. They were wrong about the budget too so i'd rather wait |

I don't know, why would the TV Guide host lie about something she overheard. Sounds true to me, but then again, Fox hasn't started pre-production yet, so the real money hasn't been thrown around. Which means that in the coming weeks it won't matter what they said during that interview about a sequel. |

Strangely it seems to be a growing trend in Hollywood to greenlite a sequel before the first movie even premieres. I've run into that a few times lately. Who knows? |

turned this into a sequel general discussion/speculation thread |

Omnia enim stolidi magis admirantur amantque, inversis quae sub verbis latitantia cernunt, veraque constituunt quae belle tangere possunt auris et lepido quae sunt fucata sonore. Indeed, the stupid most admire and love all that is scarcely discernible, hidden by abstruse words, and accept as true all things that sweetly caress the ear, and that are masked by a pleasant sound. --Titus Lucretius, De Rerum Natura, circa 80 B.C.--

Eh, who knows? The Legend of Chun Li was set up for a sequel but i am pretty sure that will never happen. Maybe they will scrap the project once they see that it isn't profit efficient. |

it's sad tough. had they not turned dragonball into spider-man, it would have been more profit efficient. something went wong. (pun intended) if they intended to make this a trilogy or more, they should have put a little more effort in the first episode. still, i'd give them a chance to redeem themselves with a properly made sequel |

definitely. and more Marsters. His scenes were definitely the best of this whole movie. |

Yes they need some Stephen Chow up in there. And a writer that has actually researched the material thoroughly as opposed to just reading a Wikipedia article. |

It definitely cannot be used in almost any situation. Maybe if all you're friends are DBZ fenatics, otherwise people would think that you're really, really, really wierd. That's like quoting lines from Star Wars or LOTR. Just not cool. I would definitely have to say that it isn't cool to use if you want to get laid, but I've never said that line so I wouldn't exactly know! lol But someone's nerd alert would definitely start flipping out or something! More creative involvement from Marsters may have helped things a lot. Listen to him talk. If he was writing we may have had the better development for Piccolo and a better backstory. His description of the saiyans was dead on, so maybe instead of this "Piccolo and his servant Oozaru" crap, they would have shown the saiyans send Goku. I get more from hearing him talk about Piccolo than I get from the whole movie's development of the character. As bad as it was, I think we owe him a lot for saving it from being even worse. |

hmm yeah I heard his review, I'm glad he is very enthousiast to play Piccolo but also Marsters is too rushed to go into DBZ...all he was talking was like yeah he is "going to be..this and that", you see? That's what I hate about it, it's like they rather skip everything that happens in DB instead of telling the story right. |

well if you follow the chronology, the only remaining thing would now be the tournament in which Piccolo Junior first appears, and i'd personally use it as the beginning sequence in the sequel, to better connect it to DBE. after king piccolo died, goku went to look for kami to recreate shenlong, then there was the tournament, and then Z. EDIT: Gohan is a big deal in the sequel. his age will affect all the other characters. if they make him around 10/12, they have the chance to age Roshi, and have him go bald and grow a beard with a plausible explanation. and another thing is Piccolo. Marsters said he wanted to make him look decrepit to stress his transformation to his younger self, yet, he never transformed in this movie. what are they gonna do then? continue with the king piccolo saga? or keep piccolo as he is? wasnt he going to transform? |

That was one of my biggest issues. Piccolo was supposed to get his wish. Making Piccolo old made sense, but now there really isn't any way to make him young. |
