why oh why did he refuse to direct the movie :cumbak:
Omnia enim stolidi magis admirantur amantque,
inversis quae sub verbis latitantia cernunt,
veraque constituunt quae belle tangere possunt
auris et lepido quae sunt fucata sonore.

Indeed, the stupid most admire and love all
that is scarcely discernible, hidden by abstruse words,
and accept as true all things that sweetly caress
the ear, and that are masked by a pleasant sound.

Damn, that explains A LOT! He should have directed it, he would have given it not only a boost just by directorial association, but just by his ability to be so damn original. What a shame! You see, this is EXACTLY why people don't like to work in Hollywood because there are HUGE egos clashing all the time. I mean, how big does your ego have to be to reject all of Stephen Chows comments and services, when he was excited too! Wow, just wow. They needs to face reality and start being able to see who can really make a project really work and start treating those people like people, and realize that their hot headedness is costing them millions. In this case, over ten million lol. I can only imagine how much bigger this film would have been if Wong had been involved in its promotion, let alone been its director! Fox should have said, here's seven million dollars, make us a 100 million. lol I bet he could have, as it is obbbbvvvvvious that he had plans for Dragonball, really good plans!

If they ever make a sequel/reboot they would be out of their flipping minds not to have Stephen Chow to direct, otherwise we will get another bomb.

They made mistakes. They have to change a lot of stuff. Director would be a good start.

If they keep going with this crap im not going to watch second movie.
Bunch of people went with me to see Dragonball Evolution, and they were man at me how bad it was like i made the dam movie.

So they better make some real changes for sequal, or its gonna bomb again. And im not paying for this crap again.

Ya, this is pretty terrible on their part. And its not like this would be all that of a complex film to pull off. It just takes direction, which every film has to have anyway, a great director and cast, and great leadership that can market a film well. Fox has that ability, but they really screwed up this franchise badly and might have given it a worse name than it already has now.

I really wished Dragonball had a director like Chow also. With a company like WarnerBros.

Even if he did direct, he couldn't fix the script. And he's not that good anyway...

He's good enough though, and right about now, the only people who could give justice to the anime would be him, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese (he's just an industry leader and just plain amazing), JJ Abrams (I feel that he is underrated for his action scenes), David Fincher, Steven Soderbergh (who would really give it an authentic feel), Ridley Scott (who is a master of sci-fi filmmaking), and the Wachowski brothers. That's not even mentioning any Japanese filmmakers. Most, if not all of these guys would, quickly reject this film and for good reasons like pay. But the point is that there definitely are qualified directors, but finding the perfect fit is the question, and I don't think that James Wong was a perfect fit. But I think that Quentin Tarantino would do this film justice, I just do. So, my point is that there are lot of people that would be terrific to direct it, but Stephen Chow would be the only one to take it on if his schedule is open sufficiently, and that's good enough for me.

I dont think you realize exactly how badass of a story teller Chow is, he is like the asian version of Christpoher Nolan(No Jokes) all though his movies tend to have the essence of comedy in them. And the only reason I see DBE didnt perform at the box office was because of bad promotion, even the people over keeping up with th the b.o suggested so because really cmon guys, this movie had shitty promotion, they missed comic-con, awhole 08 summer of anticipating techniques, a whole fall of the same possibility, AND the superbowl, I mean com, this is dragonball, this movie should of been having the shhh promoted out of it, but Fox was wayyyy too damn lazy, even the cast and crew discretly admitted that in interviews (especially Jaime when she was AT comic con for a sucky t.v movie called samurai girl, how does that go to comic-con and not DB) I believe AND know with facts to show, that the debate over DBE is literally split, you cant go out saying it sucked without hella people telling you that it was the shhh, and you cnat go out saying it was good without a herd of people saying it sucked, so quality is in the eye of the beholder, this is the film version of 808's and heart breaks, thats how movies should be, the only real good movies are the ones not everybody like and are up for headed debates. You can argue me else what but you can take Lark on my Go Kart!!

But remember that Stephen Chow wanted to revise the script as well as "casting, scripting, make design and special effects during the planning." Basically, he wanted to change the whole damn movie and that is great by me. But of course, Fox doesn't like being told what to do so they wouldn't want someone like Stephen Chow to be involved.

If he could have revised it then maybe, it would be better, but my point is Steven Chow just directing it with the script as is wouldn't have made it into a good movie.

Well, a director is the master and commander of a production, if given all creative control. Even if he was given less control than that, he would have foreseen all areas of production as everyone looks to the director on a production. And the only way he wouldn't have changed the script is if the writers refused to let him, which wouldn't happen anyway. So, I do think that having him direct would have made a HUGE difference. It definitely would have created a different look and feel for the film.
