A blessing. This movie did not deserve to be a hit because it was just an attempt to cash in on a big name by making the movie with as little money as possible in order to maximize profit. |

A blessing. Fox didn't respect the series enough that they admitted to having low expectations. I don't believe they deserve to make this movie if they don't give a rat's a$$ about it. They also didn't give Stephen Chow any respect for his opinions as a producer. The whole movie was hard to watch, script had WAY too many plot holes, the acting wasn't the best, and this "adaption" had too many useless scenes and characters. waste of time in my opinion. I want a reboot in the future and NOT by Fox, James Wong, and Ben Ramsey. Go screw a cactus, Fox. -_-; |

A god damn blessing. Anything that is done only to take advantage of other people is not worthy of any attention. |

Definitely a blessing. What an excuse of a movie this was, let alone DragonBall LAM. Please god, let some other company reboot this in the future. I've read somewhere FOX' rights to DB expire this year. If it's true, who knows... |

A shame. Screw Fox, Ramsey and to an extent Wong for making it so bad, but there were people who put a lot of effort into it. All the training Marsters and Chatwin did. All that time spent getting into that green make-up. I really don't blame either for the poor interpretaion of their character. For Chatwin the script pretty much forced him to play his Goku as a depressed, horny, teenager with low self-esteem. It's hard to put much Goku into that. but at times he did show a glimmer of the guy we love. And some of Piccolo's lines were delivered quite well. I say it's a shame because there are some people who will get undeserved flack and disrespect. So did it deserve to be a success? Not really. But I do believe some of the actors deserved a chance to be in a good movie. I think if it were a modest success with universally terrible reviews, the studio might have made some changes to make it respectable. It's also a shame because of the way this will be perceived. This won't be seen as a poorly written, directed, funded, and promoted movie that had the potential to be something spectacular. People will just look back and say "See. Making a live action version of Dragonball was a bad idea." For years people talked about how it could never be done and was so stupid. I wanted it to be good not only for us fans, but to prove all the nay-sayers wrong. Now I don't know if we'll ever get another chance. Let's think about other rebooted franchises. Batman and Robin made $338.21 million. The Hulk made $245.36 million. Those movies made money even if people hated them. I kind of wish Dragonball turned out like The Hulk. Omnia enim stolidi magis admirantur amantque, inversis quae sub verbis latitantia cernunt, veraque constituunt quae belle tangere possunt auris et lepido quae sunt fucata sonore. Indeed, the stupid most admire and love all that is scarcely discernible, hidden by abstruse words, and accept as true all things that sweetly caress the ear, and that are masked by a pleasant sound. --Titus Lucretius, De Rerum Natura, circa 80 B.C.--

http://english.ohmynews.com/articleview/article_view.asp?no=385060&rel_no=1 http://holding-on-still.blogspot.com/2009/04/dragonball-evolution-flops-and-bombs-at.html http://chadfuller.deviantart.com/journal/24205684/ It seems DBE flops really hard...it's their own (FOX's) fault anyway and I don't feel pitty for the comlpany, they ruined it for everyone...how many years have we all participated on messageboards giving idea's and tips to make this a better movie? For about 6 years they could look on many messageboards about Db LAM or at least do some fieldwork what the fans expected...it's like they did the opposite of it deliberatly... I do feel a little bad for the actors, I don't think this will have a good impact on their career, especially the younger ones(Chatwin and Rossum). But that's life, sometimes you don't know where you end up... |

Dude, surprisingly, Fox execs don't read these message boards to get ideas, and neither to the writers. They never do and they never will. This is just a built in audience that strengthens the value of the rights that they own, that's it and that's all they see this board as. As far as what they said about having low expectations... Don't be surprised that they said that, really! They made a film that they knew was looking pretty bad during production, but good enough to be distributed to theatres. The result, they slacked on the promoting side of it...a big mistake on someone's/people's part at Fox. And they know that! So, the result didn't surprise them and it didn't surprise me either. DBE must be one of the least advertised films that fox has ever produced, ever. The good news, for all those who want a sequel, this means they might green light it (I think). The bad news, they might green light it lol, for all those who want them to shut up about it. But this is a losing battle for us, Fox will never sell those rights unless someone talks to them offers millions of dollars for it. Anyone filthy rich here with millions of dollars to spend on the fly? |

A shame and a blessing. A shame because the one chance I'll probably ever get to see a Live Action Vegeta on the big screen goes right down the crapper, and a blessing because at least they didn't get that far for FOX to SHlT on an iconic masterpeice and leave them waste for us to smell. |

Five years of waiting for the greatest movie ever made, and we get a horrible pile of dig sh*t, Dragonball: Evolution. I just saw the movie on the Internet, and I have to say, this isn't even Dragonball. It's a fighting movie. Just your normal run-of-the-mill fighting story. 5,000 years ago, an evil power is imprisoned and is released in our time, so a young boy and his friends must stop him before he takes over the world - *snore* The characters didn't look anything like the original characters from Akira Toriyama's epic tale. I liked that the characters mentioned stuff like Shenlong, Muten Roshi, Oozaru, who for some reason, was under the control of Piccolo, which makes no sense whatsoever. I may post spoilers, so read at your own risk. Spoiler: click to toggle
