mh i dont know... there was that article that said the budget was 45, but wong said it's 50... but maybe it's, say, 47 so the magazine rounded it down to 45, and wong rounded it up to 50.

but still, 45.7 is very close to 50, and it's not out yet in some countries:

Germany 11 June 2009
Denmark 12 June 2009
Finland 12 June 2009
Norway 12 June 2009
Bulgaria 19 June 2009
Portugal 16 July 2009
Czech Republic 30 July 2009

so there's still some more money to come, even if probably not much
Omnia enim stolidi magis admirantur amantque,
inversis quae sub verbis latitantia cernunt,
veraque constituunt quae belle tangere possunt
auris et lepido quae sunt fucata sonore.

Indeed, the stupid most admire and love all
that is scarcely discernible, hidden by abstruse words,
and accept as true all things that sweetly caress
the ear, and that are masked by a pleasant sound.

--Titus Lucretius, De Rerum Natura, circa 80 B.C.--

It needs to make more than the actual production budget to break even. At any rate this movie flopped, simple as that.

They need to pay off theaters (around 35-40% of earnings) among other costs. By the way the Budget is $50 million. So it hasn't even made its budget back. Even if it hits $50 million (which I doubt) it still wouldn't "break even" as they have to pay back theaters and take care of other cost.

Oh thats right Craigdbfan, its usually requires them to make around twice as much to make it profitable. I totally forgot about that rule of thumb.

To increase the cost, actually they should give us a compensation for watching this movie.

We watched the entire film, which they didn't force us to do. And we stayed through the while thing, which they also didn't force us to do. And a studio can't pay customers back for ticket sales, that's ludicrous. And besides, they would be the first studio to ever do that, their shareholder would be furious, and so would the theater companies as they profit off of the ticket sales. So, I think not.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke.
