Note: I Copied this From Wikipedia, I cought word of this on Myspace this morning via a Bulletine, thus i searched and it has been confirmed on Michael Bays Webpage. Now from what ive gathered is that they are working with Hanz Zimmer on the Score aside from the song.

New Divide is a song written by Linkin Park for Michael Bay's upcoming film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The song will serve as the film's theme, and will be released as a single on May 18th.

Linkin Park's "What I've Done" was included on the first Transformers soundtrack and was featured in the film's trailer. Mike Shinoda first alluded to "New Divide" on March 28, 2009, stating "We've been working on a new song in the past couple of weeks that has been a lot of fun. The backdrop for the song is built on layered, heavy synths and a sharp performance by [the band's drummer] Rob Bourdon." On April 24, Shinoda revealed that they are working with successful music composer Hans Zimmer writing various interpolations of "New Divide" to serve as thematic elements for the film. When discussing the Transformers sequel with Blabbermouth, Michael Bay said "I love Linkin Park... they really delivered with 'New Divide' — it's a great song that perfectly matches the film's intensity." Currently it can be heard 14 seconds into the new trailer for the film.

For Us Linkin Park Fans, This is a bit of Awesomeness to look forward to:

Linkin Park will be on the Kevin and Bean's Cinco de la Tarde show on KROQ at 5:00 pm Pacific time on May 18th, 2009 to world premiere the song.

On May 14, Shinoda revealed that they are currently recording an accompanying music video for the song. The video is set in an Egyptian cave and Mr. Hahn, the band's DJ, will be directing.

I know a few people on here who are going to rage.

I don't mind- it's actually made for the movie, which is pretty sweet.

What business do LP have scoring anything? My own feelings regarding the band aside, seriously, leave film scores to actual composers, not radio-rock bands.

Well, OK, there was the Crank 2 trailer, but at least there it was being used with a sense of irony.

:faceofsomekind: Working with the composer. They arent Scoing it themselves. Michael Bay asked them too. Thats what business they have. And even so, they have just as good a right to Any even if they were doing it themselves, they are succesfull musicians. and i dont want to hear anything about how they are not because i have watched all there documentarys/dvds/ seen them live and heard every song, they are MUSICIANS they use plenty of diffrent instruments they make awesome sounds, they have the perfect sound for a Transformers film. blah, blah, blah im waisting my typing breath. im not going to get into a LP Feud with anyone on this forum because 98% of you hate them. So im sure this info wont make the main page of the website. even tho its a great bit of info. -_-

Michael Bay may have asked them to. They may be working alogside Zimmer rather than at the forefront. They may be accomplished musicians. But none of that serves to change my opinion that film scores should be done by film composers. Simple as. I don't want to hear a Linkin Park-esque sound on a film, because it draws too much attention to itself; I want orchestral florishes which accentuate and augment the action onscreen. Radio rock should remain exclusively the realm of musical montages, and I highly doubt we'll be seeing any of those in Transformers 2.

And for what it's worth, this news is up on the homepage. Has been for about two weeks.

Not to be a drag or anything, but plenty of composers for movie scores have included outside help from musicians. Yoko Kanno has done it many times, as well as Enya working alongside Howard Shore to make a song for Lord of the Rings.

Besides, you didn't even like the first Transformers movie lol. Don't be surprised that there will be even more elements of the movie that you will dislike.

^Well, yeah, I guess so. I might as well not bother with the film's soundtrack when there will be so many more, better reasons to hate it. :P

But anyway, it's one thing for a composer to collaborate with another musician on a soundtrack. Hans Zimmer did it with Lisa Gerrard for Gladiator, in my opiion the best soundtrack I've ever heard. It's wholly another thing for an alternative rock track to accompany an action sequence. It just doesn't work. If it's present in a musical montage, then fine, but it just gets in the way when it comes to continuity editing. That's just how I feel about it, anyway.

Its not an alternative rock song, Linkin Park isnt Alternitive rock, they where Nu-Metal and now are Hard Rock, if you followed there music you would know. And if you heard the song New Divide you may have a diffrent veiw, being the song sounds like its part of the movie, i didnt even notice it when watching the Trailor for the movie, did you? -_-

Dude... it's me? TheDarkPrince? The Elder? Linkin Park were my favourite band for years, I've seen them live and I've listened to Hybrid Theory and Meteora dozens if not hundreds of times each. Alt rock, hard rock, nu-metal, whatever. I'm playing it fast and loose with genres.

Anyway, I guess you're right, I didn't notice the music in the trailer, but bear in mind that that was a trailer. A form of musical montage where a song like that is appropriate. In the film at large though, a track like that would wreak havok with the editing, distracting the viewers attention with a rhythm asynchronous with the shots.

But screw it. It's not as if I expect coherence from Michael Bay anyway.

Not that its going to change your opinion or anything BUT Last time i saw the 1st Transformers i remember hearing not only Linkin Park, but the Goo Goo Dolls, Disturbed, The Used and Smashing Pumpkins throughout the movie in diffrent scenese Scene's. At one point you can Hear "HIM" playing on Sams Stereo while he's on the phone...

I spelt Scene's wrong. ^_^

And you know what, honestly i dont see what the big deal is. Rappers can have clothing lines and Self proclaimed Diva's (Mariah Carry for example) can have Perfume's. Actors try singing, Singers try acting. Why Cant a Band Try Composing a musical score? Joe Hahn directs video's and even made a pretty interesting Short Film. Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington Both have Clothing lines, and Auction artwork and painting's for benifitting disaster releif and other programs like that. Chester also has a Tattoo shop. They write music already as a band, why would it be so bad for them to do a Score? its a Thematic song, and they are taking the sound from that song and using it to do the score with a Composer i just dont see how its a bad thing...Its not a normal Rock Song i just dont see it ruining the movie, especially after the Diverse soundtrack of the last film, the music did not take my attention from the film.

The song is great, their new album is soposed to be a "Concept Album" im hoping that its seperate from the Transformers album tho, ill be greatly disapointed if their new album is the transformers score, even tho ill still be happy with the score id like to see something from just Linkin Park. Knowing them tho they always have side projekts going while their doing their studio albums so im sure its seperate.

i like the combination, the songs from linkin park are the most used in AMVs 99-2007, especially for dbz

i remember using all the songs from hybrid Theory to make amvs.
