They don't need to be serious movies, as long as the Z films are more serious than the DB ones. |

When I say serious I don't mean dry, no humour, serious. I just mean it shouldn't be an outright comedy. I want to be able to watch it and not feel like it's all just a joke and overly silly. For example, I would say Pirates of the Carribean is pretty humorous, but an overall serious movie because the comedic moments don't detract from quality of the story. I really fell like Chronicles of Narnia is nearly the perfect tone for Dragonball. Just a bit more comedic. |

I was just quetioning. I wasn't saying he's unfit to direct it. Anyway, no I haven't seen Kung Fu Hustle, but didn't he say he doesn't direct things he doesn't create? If so, it's pointless for us to hope for him to do a reboot, especially since he's connected to this one. |

now, i still have to see the movie and make up my mind, BUT obviously, a lot of people doesn't like it at all. now if this turns out to be the general response worldwide, (once it has actually been released worldwide) the chances are three: -a reboot in five years or so from now -no more DB movies for 100 years at least -a sequel, way cooler and accepted the last option would go like for Fantastic Four, i think. A lot of people hated that movie, but they still made a sequel. So we might still get a sequel in the next years, since it would be much much better than this movie in terms of plot and characters. I think fox might head this way. Or, they might wait 5 years and reboot it, like they're now doing with -guess what- Fantastic Four. Now that i think about it, they might actually make a sequel, probably recasting some characters, and Then, after the last movie on schedule, make a proper prequel, with 13-year-old goku and whatnot, which would replace Evolution. Sounds good if it were true, Frankie. Still, Goku was 12 at the beginning of DB

While I didn't like either Fantastic 4 very much, the second was a lot better. It would be cool if we got a reboot/sequel like the Incredible Hulk. I know it wasn't a sequel but it didn't completely start over like Batman Begins. You can almost use the events of the first as a loose history because it introduces the basic plot and characters used in the reboot. Dragonball could do the same. Wait a while and then make a DBZ movie in a completely different style. Not sure what to do with the cast because I haven't seen Evolution yet but I think completely disregarding elements of this movie could fix a lot of problems it would face in Z. I really think we need an older looking Goku and Chi-chi because Chatwin and Chung don't look like they would be the parents of a kid whose old enough to carry a decent fight scene. |

Yes Stephen did say but, but he lied, because he is directing Green Hornet and he did not create that, so he could have directed Dragonall and written his own nice story of Dragonball |

Maybe since rumour has it the producers didn't approve of Chow's suggestions (and thus creating more or less bad blood between each other) we will see Chow creating a possible future reboot..?

yes Kung Fu hustle did have some dragonball qualities to it, but Fox probally perferred Wong because his films arent part of the sterotypical genre. Meaning just because he is Asian doesnt mean he makes movies about Asians and his entire cast is Asian. I'm not saying Chow is bad, its just that they had different values. Even if this movie turns out bad in my POV, i still commend Wong and the cast for stepping up to the plate and make the dame thing happen. Thats why the project took so long, no good director wants to be booed down at a project they couldnt make a success. And for Fox and Chow to spend that much on an anime adaptation is unusual. I mean 1999-2005 was the golden age for dragonball and Dbz, they would have gotten more support from fans back then. |

hopefully... but i think they'd rather continue and go with DBZ, rather than making another controversial possibly silly-cheesy movie for kids. if they make another origins story, the target audience would still be kids, cause, no matter what you say, the protagonist is a freaking 12 year old wild kid. this is my final nostradamus-like statement: remember my words mortals, for Fox doesnt want to make another origins story and risk to fail again. They will use DBE as background information for those who are not familiar with dragonball, and they will make DBZ movies, which far better and more interesting plot. They'll pick a decent, probably famous, director and screenwriter, recast the characters and move on with Z. and they'll make money. Oh so much money. after the lesson they learnt with DBE (everyone, everyone hates highscool and cheesy clichees) they should have now understood that the audience wants quality. besides, badass ass-kicking, planet destroying aliens leave no space for silly highschool-like stuff. the saiyan+frieza saga is the apex of all dragonball, it's some good material to work with and requires no stupid "make-it-more-realistic" BS. ---------end of the prophecy-------- seriously, again, dragonball origins is not what fox is looking for. it would never reach the goal of being the next LOTR or dark knight. because it's for kids. it IS, for kids. IT. IS. for kids. and for long-term fans. who love it. because they fell in love with it when they were KIDS. see it like this, try to make a movie for adults out of Digimon. or a movie for kids out of the Godfather. ok, now i've annoyed myself. I forgot to mention this: Rob and I both agreed the first Indiana Jones movie was also extremely well suited to be an inspiration for a Dragonball movie. |

After having seen the movie I must say that I do hope it doesn't get a sequel. There's just no way a sequel could make up for all the crap that happened in the first film. They would have to recast every single character and pretty much ditch every part of "origin" that was "explained" in DBE. I'd much rather have a reboot that actually tries to be faithful (which could still start off at the Saiyan Saga, that would actually work better I believe).
