As an actual screenwriter, and as someone who has talked on this board extensively about what needs to be done with Dragonball, I have to tell you that I think you're missing the point.

To make a good Dragonball movie you don't need to add stuff, trying to make it cool, you just need to simplify the story. Everything you need to make a good DB or DBZ movie is right there in the manga.

Things can be changed, just keep the same meaning. Things can be removed or swapped around as long as the end result is clear.

Quick example - Take the Saibamen out. They're not needed and the required deaths can be dealt out at the hands of Nappa and Vegeta instead.

Break everything down to its individual and basic parts, find the core of the story and the characters and work from there.

I would love to write Dragonball myself. I know exactly how I would do it and it isn't by adding to what's already there. It's by taking that stuff and figuring out what works, what's needed and what isn't then building the story back up around the characters.

I am glad to see someone understands how this movie needed to be made. I really hope you get a shot at the script.

I second this statement. To bad the crap writer that wrote DBE didn't understand this concept.

And we need time to let the execs get the bad taste of DBE out of their mouth before they decide they don't want to sample proper DBZ.

Rob and I were agreeing about making the movie like "Path to Power". It's the DB story condensed, military bad guys, but there's no Mai, Pilaf, and Shou. The Path To Power's main villain was The Red Ribbon Army, not Piccolo. that may be more appealing as a reboot and bring Piccolo in later.

It is funny because as soon as i saw Path to Power i thought the same. If they follow that movie closely then i think they can make a successful reboot.
