i just bought a Data911 Ruggedized Mobile Touchscreen 12VDC Computer off ebay. its a similar style to the ones in cop cars. so its made to be in a car and runs off same power as a car i plan on installing an odb1 program reader on to it so i can view the info from me ecu...i know it might b pointless now but im hopeing itlll help me in the future when my mods get more indepth... i want to wire it up to its own power source, any ideas the safest way to wire up and instal a batery in the trunk? |

I think you are better off running it off your regular battery and just get a higher amperage alternator...It'll be too much trouble having two batteries in your car, really unecessary in my opinion...besides that is how cop cars are done, and they not only have a computer running, they have everything else running with one battery... |

You really should fix those gremlins first, you will just open a can of worms if you start adding stuff before fixing other problems. there is stuff I want to do, but I have to fix things first. Like I want to put in SFCs but there is some bad rust that I need to fix first. |

I would suggest fixing the other electrical problems before doing anything else. I have 140amp alternator in mine... they arent that expensive on summitracing.com, its probably cheaper then hooking up a safe battery in the trunk. Most the time, Batteries installed in the trunk are mounted where the spare tires goes, this is usually used in drag racing. The wire itself plus a good battery plus a mounting bracket will probably be more then a 140 amp alternator. What program do you plan on using for the obd1 computer reading? Where do you plan on putting the computer? |
