Im going to be ordering soon probably from jegs or summit, a Magnaflow stainless steel muffler and hi flow cat also from magna flow, (got a guy to do it fairly cheap) any one have some advice on what size pipe to go with. Is 2 1/4 good enough or should I get the three inch, the car after all my plans will still be basically tame with ford injectors comming and also a fastchips chip and a new distributor, also any ideas on HEI Distributor?, got my eyes on a Mallory, the exhaust and distributor is pretty soon the rest I have to save a bit more Thanks in advance Mike |

I would go with three inch , just because if you decide on hopping up the motor in the future you already have the bigger pipes..as far as mallory, I would rather put in an msd distributor or you can go with a performance parts chevy one, and also an msd coil and box ... question..why are you changing the whole distributor? |

the stalling thing could be alot of other things, I highly doubt it's ur dizzy..If anything your distributor would cause erradic timing and your car will run like crap...I would do a complete full tune up first and clean the throttle body and stuff and see how the car runs before you buy a distributor.. a new distributor is pricey..i think they go for 250 and up.. putting 3 inch pipes on a stock setup wont do anything, it'll just reduce the backpressure.... i was running that way for quite a while when i first bought my car.. I would also open the intake up a bit K&N filter and stuff.. |

thaznks manny the car is tuned up already , my mechanic said the brain from the distributor is prob bad so that alone cost 75, I can get a new distributor for 150 so I figure why not . I cleaned out the throttle body and the maf and it made a huge difference it barely stalls now. but sometimes at lights the idle will drop a bit and once in a rare while stall |

Def go 3" anything less is pointless. And like sam said stock is 2, 3/4.. With the new magnalfow and new cat, and new injectors you will see a huge difference in youre cars performance. And yes, the stock coil is most likely shot too. Just get a MSD Blaster for 60-70 bucks. Next thing youll want is a set of headers, gears, and stall. Then youre little 305 will be ready to stomp out some shitstangs for sure. |

Another thing like glen said.. Get or borrow a test light. and find the correct OHM's on TGO for the tps sensor, idle air screw and all other sensors, otherwise you car wont be running up to par. regardless of mods. |

it runs fine so im not worried at all , the worst case scenario I have to put her in nuetral at a light not sure if my car came with ICS if it did what are you getting at there Glen what could it mean plus the car used to stall everytime you stopped at a light now its only once in a while after cleaning out the maf and the throttle body so it fixed 85 % of the problem. |

The thing Glen was talking about is called a Idle Air Control Valve. (IAC Valve) It controls air comiing in at idle when the throttle blades are closed. Look it up if you don't understand. I gavea very breif explanation. |

^ it should OHM between 20/30.. After you install the new chip, it will read about 100, You will then have to adjust it by turing the screw out more, clockwise. If youre car is stock and it wasnt touched. It should be fine right now as is. Until youre new tune goes in. |

Sam what is all the hostility about... The Idel Contril sensor controls your idle. When you stop at alight and your idle bounces all over the place then odds are the sensor is bad. |

hmmm..I was gonna respond but since Glean said he only trusts Dennis' response..then I cant help out.. hahhaa j/k the iac is pretty cheap ...shit i have like 4 of them in my garage from my lumina...lol...what you can do is take it off the throttle body and spray some throttle body cleaner in where it sits and taka a rag and get in there and clean it up...then spray around the sensor and clean the carbon off of it too..be careful though dont spray directly on the tip of the iac sensor..although i have done that myself, they say it messes it up.. |

pretty much..i just double checked the iacs in my garage...there should be a brown (viton) o-ring that seals it to the throttle body, but you can reuse it as long as it's still ok... yeah i would just clean the spring on it from any carbon deposits, sometimes it gunks up and your iac sticks..and then take it from there....it's a process of elimination.. btw...did you check for any codes? |

it could also be ur injectors ....since they are old and stuff...but i believe the guys covered that in previous posts...throw in some techron fuel injector cleaner and drive that bad boy on the highway ...let her open up a bit...might help until you replace your injectors.. |
