Ok so I decided to take pics of the install, cause alot of you guys were asking me to see this done..So since im a nice clown..I obliged..u guyz now owe me  lol..anywayz..For the guy I spoke to on saturday: There are six bolts that hold the k-Member to the front frame of the car..and I used an impact gun to get all of them out in a snap.. Step by step: 1) disconnect the brake lines at the caliper end.. 2)take the tie rods off 3) take the spindle off with the shock and brakes (all one piece) 4) unbolt the brake lines all along the k-member 5) unbolt six bolts that bolt the kmember to the frame At the last step the whole kmember drops to the floor...Ofcoarse there are other ways of doing this but this is my way..and remember, i did not use a lift and jacked the motor up using a board and jack under the motor pan...the biggest bitch in this project so far was disconnecting the brake lines all along the kmember..you need some ratcheting wrenches and real skinny fingers...all this work took me about one day..but i bs'd alot also..im thinking one more day to install the new kmember and coilover/ control arm kit..and done...So two days total..enjoy the pics...next week I will post up the install.. one more thing...i also took my sway bar off and I reinstalled my wonder bar...now I had read a thread on TGO that some guy had problems with his frame not being straight and couldn't install the kmember...well i figure if i keep the wonderbar tightly bolted up, then the front part of the car will not seperate apart when you take the stock kmember out...it might have worked, cause at the end of the day i mocked up the new kmember and it looks like everything aligns perfectly....just something I thought i'd share here...cause like i said i'm a good clown.. my car in my garage: ![]() taking the shock and the spindle/brakes out in one shot: ![]() ![]() I left the control arms on with the stock kmember: ![]() Dropped the bitch: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ready for tthe install: ![]() Will be continued....... |

Great job so far.....any idea what the weight diff. is now that you have the stock K out? I could never get a straight answer from TGO about this. Some said the weight diff was 50lbs...some say less than 10 lbs....what is it? Also, are you using their spring perches or are you going coil-over? >Missed you at the show....lots of clown cars! |

Looking good manny... Also, when you weight the stuff, remember to factor in the coilovers compared to the struts and springs and things like that.... I am also cutious in the weight reduction aspect. |

Thanks guyz... Stan/Dennis... I will try to weigh everything this weekend..when i asked steve spohn he said about 40lbs..i think...No spring perches Stan, coilovers with QA1 springs (drag setup) and tokiko five way adjustables..the front control arms are also chrome molly and spherical rod ended..the whole thing priced out at $2,500.00 ... Glean...I specially picked that blanky for you..

also on a sidenote...chrome molly is not only stronger than mild steel..but much lighter...so the weight reduction is probably a couple of pounds more vs. mild steel... |

its easy, you jus need a creeper lay down and put the k member on your chest have one bolt and washer in one hand and one in your mouth slide under head first watch the oil pan on your dome and catch the one bolt grab the other one out of your mouth and cath it on the other side.......thats how i did it.... and no you cannot barrow my wing man, hes my bitch, unless you buy him more expensive vodka then goergi..... |

Ok...Lemme start off by saying...I startied working on the bitch about 1-ish..and now it is 11:45 and im finally out of the garage.. I'm uploading pics, so until they all upload i figure i'd give you guys a synopsis of the days events...With the help of my bro in law we put the new control arms on the new k-member and finally went underneath and bolted the k-Member in ..went in like butter...next step was to catch the motor mounts...ok....here is where i wanted to kill someone...we caught one side and then attacked the other side...problem was the other side was about 1/4 of an inch off...so we spent a couple of hours moving the motor around with a couple of pry bars...right when we thought he had a solution, that's when we realized that this shit was not gonna go in...  To me and my bro in law..it looks like i have to do some grinding and drilling on the motor bracket that is bolted to the motor...I will call Steve Spohn tomorrow and see what his take is on the issue...either way im gonna get that sucker in, I'll MAKE that shit go in.. I got a chance to weigh the stuff..ok stock k-member including control arms wieghs 50 LBS more than the tubular control arms with the tubular k-member...remember tho..i have chrome molly which is stronger and lighter than mild steel..i think it was like a $250 option... |

OK...I woke up this morning and I was playing back the situation i ran into last night...the stupid forgot that the mechanical fuel pump is hitting the k-Member on the passenger side...I'm pretty sure that's why the mounts do not line up..I also just got off the phone with Steve Spohn and he said that is probably it. .He also said not to get any motor mounts from autozone or anything..use the stock clamshell with urethane mounts..or solid..
