well ive been playing with the tv cable, nothing yet. dont forget nothing in my drive train is third gen. but can the tv cable change that much over night? i have been a little hard on the car lately bangin through the gears, sometimes winding out and then letting the motor slow me down. gonna play with it some more today. if no fix, off to the mechanic i go and no car at hooters

The cable is worth a shot because it's the simplest thing to check...but it sounds like it,s ur tranny...at part throttle ur tranny doesn't want to shift? |

ok so after bottoming out the cable the car started shifting at about 3500 but with a decent amount of gas. so i decided to run it for a while and wouldnt you know it about 15 minutes in it started dropping on its shifts until it went the opposite way. so popped the hood, readjusted the way it was originally and now shifting fine. maybe it is the cable. shifting nice and hard chirping gears in drive the way it is supposed to. so im hoping its the cable. letting it cool down and will go for a ride in an hour or two. still think i will bring it to my mechanics, after tues though |

not yet. my mechanics tranny guy builds race trannys. apparently there are much better quality parts for a 700r4 now. once i find out the problem. i will talk upgrading things.i am a dumb ass when it comes to cars. i dont even n know what a stall converter does. but i trust my mechanic but any suggestions for upgrades are welcome |

Do what I'll do when I blow up my 700R4. Throw it in the trash and go with a T56!

I was thinking about that with mine, the cost of a T56 is about the same as a built 700r4 the time to install and do some fab work is the hard part... |

This is true. The hardest part would be the cutting of the tunnel for the shifter and holes in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder. Back in 04, I helped a cousin of mine swap one into his A4 92 Z28. Wasn't too bad, and he had a custom crossmember from SPD. Otherwise, it was a pretty straightforward bolt in. But, the automatic can always be made to handle more power, and at this point, the built auto would be cheaper than a T56. Most LT1 T56s are in need of rebuild at this point or are priced high because they're becoming rarer. |

>Fellas...just get a Tremec TKO600...it can handle 600 horses and is offered as a kit for our cars...When I blow my T-5 that's what I'm getting! Strong as hell and not as complicated as the T56....or get the G-Force T-5, rebuilt to race specs! http://gforcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp |

to late. trannys bein rebuilt as we speak. apparently the guy i got it from originally disengagedsomething for the torque converter. been slowly fcuking up the inside since day one. so going with a higher stall . maybe a new sleeve. i dont know. but everything will be new inside. it will handle my motor, and i got a year warranty with it. so a year to beat the crap out of my car. that could be fun.... maybe alittle dangerous. |
