Huge gap in prices!...T-5 { used or rebuilt or race built )..I bought mine used for $ 250 and rebuilt it myself. They're $1200-1800 rebuilt for racing. bellhousing+$100, hydraulic clutch m/c unit $ 150; clutch: $ 100-380....shifter: $ 35 for stock unit....pedals: $ 45......and Labor:??? You'll have to ask around. I'm sure it varies greatly! You might as well buy the Tremec 600 for $ 1800.....they can handle up to 600hp! Much stronger than the T-5....or swap in the T-56 taken from a 4th gen. |

It can be done for a few hundred by yourself if you source the parts out and take your time. Also, how heavy is your foot? Those T5's are pretty weak when mated to a 350 and beat on. |

BTW Freaks n Geeks. if anybody is at all interested in a T-56 conversion. I know a guy from HotRod Products, they fabricate evrything needed to swap one into almost any car. And yes they def do Thirdgens. He also told me what some guys are pushing through those. More than 600. Guys are running BBC's with them. They are under rated of course. |

>T-56 I've seen for $600 and up. Swapping a trans is not that hard if you have the garage to do it in...actually pretty simple! A T-5 only weighs about 50lbs...so lifting it in isn't hard. The clutch hook-up is simple too! Hydraulics need no adjustments...just mount it and bleed it. >As to the T-5's fragility....after talking to a lot of trans guys..the fact is this really depends on how you drive the car. If you like to do burnouts often, then the T-5 isn't for you! I use the car as a driver and don't drag it so it's fine even though I'm driving it with a rebuilt 350 with a good cam. It's been over a year and it's still around even as I do stretches of highway at 90mph. When this goes I will probably put in the T-56. |

You can find complete swaps on craigslist for $600 or buy a complete car for $800 is sometimes cheaper. I'm going to go t56 though, stronger trans and double overdrive means i will never have to put gas in it ever again...lol. |

5spds i see on craigslist. for 3-6 hundred. t56's i've seen for a 1000-1500 but haven't been really looking for them....just what i come across. Ultimately, i would like to go ls1/t56, i know its very pricey but worth it. Plus i want to put the plastic corvette covers over the value covers I heard hawks do the complete conversion for like 10g's including motor/trans....thats a lot of coin so i'll just get the items 1 by 1 over time. In a few years, you'll probably be able to buy complete ls1 camaro t56's for 2-3g's so that may be a better route. Buy 'em and strip 'em.

| fcuken camaros..first u love em then it breaks and u hate em then u think u fix it so u think u love it again but in reality its always broke and u still lvoe it but ud still like to drive it into a wall | |
