I noticed some drops under my car today below the tranny area. I threw it up on ramps and took the plastic cover off from the torque converter and noticed about a shot glass full of fluid. I looked around the TQ for a leak but really didin't notice anything. First I looked at the front of the TQ facing the engine, it looked dry. Then looked at the rear of the TQ, noticed a little fluid but not sure if that was splashing up from the cover. Checked the outer edge of the tranny pan and it looked a little wet on driver side front. I let the car run a bit and shifted from P,R,N,D and crawled under the car and didn't notice any leaks...WTF. Any idea?, possible front seal, TQ or leaking gasket from pan. I couldn't pinpoint the leak which sucks, I'll check it later in the week to see what happens. BTW, while under the car I noticed my front sway bushings and end links look brittle as hell, must be the originals...guess I need to change them soon. |

I'm guessing it's ATF fluid...... Front of the transmission leak is 1) TC seal or bearing; 2) transmission pump. Either way you'll need to drop the trans. Any noise? Any noise diff between neutral and drive? You should take car of it...this could be something serious. I know because I had a TC bearing failure and the bits got sucked into the pump and chewed up the rest of the trannie! |

The sway bar end links are a lot of "fun" to change out. If they're the originals, they'll be rusted together for sure. Break out the hacksaw or sawzall and have at it. Replacements from Spohn are only $15/pair. As for the trans, I'm with Stan here. Front pump or front TC seal. Take care of ASAP. |

Verify that is it indeed transmission fluid. Then clean everything off drive it for a few miles and go again, just shiftng through all the gears isnt going to create a leak because the transmissin wont be under full pressure as it would be while driving. Also, ALWAYS have the correct amount of fluid in the transmission, I have read that being even a half of qt low could cause severe damage in a short amount of time. |

No doubt it's ATF - and DUH, I should have known that I need to build pressure in order to pinpoint a leak. I'll check it out next weekend and let ya know. Thanks. |
