I have no idea if anyone else has already posted something about this or if it is just common knowledge. I called G-Force Transmissions today to get prices for there upgraded gear sets and the heavy duty input shaft. Its about $1300 for the gear set and another $375 for the Input shaft. all in all it will be around $1700 for it to be shipped. then you have to find someone to install all the new parts if you aren't prepared to do it yourself. BUT, I can order a TKO 500 5 speed race ready transmission from Jegs that is rated for 500 Ft lbs of torque for $2000. ? Kind of a no brain er. So why spend almost $2000 dollars on PARTS for your old worn out T5 when you can have a race ready Built trans for the same price. Built in a housing that is designed for abuse. Don't get me wrong i know that the Stock T5 can handle a pretty bad ass whooping but, at some point it will fail. And most likely when you least expect it. Just some food for thought. If anyone has any more input on this topic that i have either incorrectly explained or am miss informed, PLEASE let me know. Or just post under correcting what i said. |

But didn't you say that the G-Force parts were heavy duty and stronger? One thing in the T-5's favor is with the beefed up T-5 you can put it in your car with the existing stock bellhousing, clutch mechanism, shifter, etc....You could also go new Tremec, but you'd need a new bellhousing, crossmember etc. I think it's a personal thing. If it were me I'd go the Tremec 6 speed route...but it's money! Some guys like the T-5 'cause it's lighter and smaller than the other trans. I think G-Force did all this T-5 work because there are a lot of T-5's out there ( mustangs too!) and they're out there racing and doing heavy work. They also offer gear sets in straight cut gears and with large dog teeth for faster shifting. They treat their gears to really harden them....what I'm saying is there must be a market for them otherwise no one would be buying them. |

VERY VERY VERY true. and i'm trying to say that you shouldn't consider the G-Force kit, Althought, the G-Force kit will ONLY work with World Class T5s. Guess i should have added that to the first post. and yes if you go with a TKO you will have to modify the shifter slightly, but nothing serious. Just a steel plate to move the shifter back 2 inches. But i know there was some that didn't know how much the G-Force kit cost, so i was trying to help clear that up aswell. |
