A TH400 is a vacuum operated kick down, what that means is that it does not use a tv (throtle valve) cable or what most people call a kickdown cable so to answer your question no you do not need a switch just a vacuum hose from the intake to the trans |

You need a differ crossmember and a torque arm mount kit for a th400 and might need a differ lenght driveshaft pending on what tail is on that tranny, and put a manual valvebody in it so no need for anything but a shifter |

It was rebuilt in Connecticut and it is new to me the tranny has a vacuum line and a single cable coming out of it and the guy at the tranny shop told me about a actual switch that mounts to ur intake manifold and is connected to the carb linkage to control shifting. Soo I'm confused? And I got Tue new cross member and the drive shaft is the same just new yokes O. And its going in with a brand new 400ci 6.6 liter motor |

There is an electronic kickdown switch in the th400. Its usally mounted on the throttle pedal. Everything else is done by vavccum. A th350 would of had a cable going from the trans to the carb throttle linkage. |

ok so i ordered the cross member here http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/camarofirebirdspohn82-92turbo350transmissioncrossmember-1-1-1.aspx and when i was at the shop the dude said that if i have that cable, witch looks like a regular wire i need the kick down, so i dont know what to do, what would that wire connect to when i put in the tranny, and were on the intake manifold do i put the vacuum, i have the edlebrock performer intake, how about the carb, can i put it there? and if there is any one in the queens area that knows i live in middle village, call me at 9175844883 if you wanna see for your self. |
