Headlight & Spoiler Issues

The 86 T/A I looked at last night has an issue with the driver's headlight not popping up or lowering. the rear spoiler is also split along the seam and has a gaping hole.
I'm wondering what the repair process is for the headlight assembly and also where I can locate another factory spoiler for the rear deck. Also, I'm curious what the replacement cost will be for both parts should I have to go that route.
Any ideas?

Bri

98% of the Aerowing spoilers will be that way, No way around it. It was a bad design, rubber, metal and plastic. You can buy a fiberglass one from a few diff companys, but they are pricey. The headlight issue, thats onother thing thats like regular maintence on T/A's. Most places sell a kit that replaces the plastic gears with metal ones. All in all its relatively a cheap fix. Most bird guys eventually have to do this also. So those 2 things are really unavoidable with any bird. Unless of course you find one with these things already done. But IMO, that shouldnt steer you away from a purchase. Things like a straight body, Rust and the drivetrain are far more important.

Spoiler $3-500 + Paint & install.
Lights guess at $50-150 - I can get u a solid quote on this if u want.

I just have a problem with the $6k price tag for the car when it has so many little issues. The cars listed here are alot more reasonably priced from what I can see. Maybe it's just me....

Like i said. You will not find a bird with an original aerowing in that good of condition. The headlight issue can be fixed by almost any shop. But those 2 things alone wont dictate the value of the car.
You can always ask the seller to rebuild the headlight assemblies if youre really interested in the car.

I discussed that possibility with him last night but he wasn't very receptive to that idea. Guess he took the T/A in on trade and just wants to sell the car to put money into his other project car. I'm just weighing the pros and cons of this car vs. some others that i will be looking at this weekend. Out of curiosity, where would I go for a new spoiler and where do I get the rebuild kits for theadlights and how much might they run?

I dickered with him for over 3 hours last night. He is hell bent on the $6k. Like I said, alot of little things. Weatherstripping, headlight issues, spoiler, shifter handle is broken, and it's got this huge speaker box in the hatch and the dahs has been butchered for a stupid stereo. :( I tried to get him to give me a price for the car without the stereo but he won't budge from it. It's frustrating.

I wouldnt say that Glen. Youre car is worth more than 6k. When apprasing Thirdgens it really comes down to the individual car. - Miles, 5.0, 5.7, TPI car, Rust, originality, Color, Paint, Interior.etc....

My point is, I see thirdgens go for over 6k that do have more than 50k miles and are not immaculate everywere else. Depends on individual car. Like an 89RS LO3 with 49k and fairly mint isnt worth as much as an 89GTA 5.7 87k miles in fair condition.

6k seems high for that car. Car probably just came in thats why he's so adament about being firm on the price...he'll be singing a different tune in a few months w/o any bites. Definately look at samdeweezel's car and keep monitoring the online postings..something else will come up. Mileage doesn't dictate the price so much once its modified but 6k for an original one w/a decent amount of mileage and the issues you mentioned isn't worth it imo.
