Ok so when the car went into the bodyshop I pull the carpet out, my bodyshop told me that some mositure worked its way under the paint but that it was just some surface rust and I that I should do a light sand and then epoxy paint the floor But when I started to sand that area there was more rust under some other spots so my question is do you think I can get away with just a light sand (220) and paint or strip it down? Oh and I think I found why there was moisture build up, the tack welds that hold the bracket for the seat belt bolt at one of the welds the tack went straight through the floor pan about the size of a pin head So that brings my next question should I just go to the metal in that pan only and just scuff the rest and POR-15 it? ![]() ![]() Sorry about the last pic it was dark out and it was hard to zoom in on the hole |

Glad to here that, I was thinking the same thing cause I don't think I need to do the entire floor of the car and I don't see any rust anywhere other then what's in the pic and there's no other paint bubbling up anywhere so I guess I fine with just some exopy primer and paint |

for the spots in question but i would follow it up w/por as a top coat for the entire floor if you have time...that way you'll never have to worry about rust and floorboards ever again.

Yeah, I would do the whole thing in por15 without a doubt, get all the rust out with anything even a grinder clean it all up and wipe it down with alcohol and por 15 it should be good forever. |

Thanks Alex but should I sand the hole floor to the metal or just the area that has rust and just scuff the rest? |

Yeah the rusty areas sand till the rust is gone and other areas just sand it so the por15 has sumthing to grab on to, use gloves and old clothes when applying it do not get it on your skin!! Or you will have to scrape it off with a knife. |

Good to know, I was working on it today, made some good progress but I'm mostly working on the hard spots first then I'll just scuff the rest and POR-15 it but I have to say I don't like this type of work, you got a give credit when credit is due these guys that restore cars and do this all day it sucks! and at the rate I'm going it probably won't be done until next week and thats if it don't rain cause I'm working out side Oh by the way anyone have an easier way to get off those sticky square glue mats that GM puts in at the four corners to cover the holes in floor and the seam sealer, I used a wire wheel but it makes a mess |

Looks good. I want to do that and then apply some sort of sound deadener on top of it. My car is kind of loud on the inside... |
