so a while back i think i told you guys i got tagged by some asshole in a honda civic in my right rear wheel well. lucky for me it was a honda and plastic so minimal damage although over $700 to fix in a shop. the little bastard backed into me as i was driving through the parking lot and claims its my fault and is trying to sue me. yesterday i happen to find a man who fixed that damage and preexisting damage for $100, unfortunately i never got an estimate and now all i have is pictures to file a claim against him. Does anybody have the ability to type up an estimate and make it look official? information will be provided, and i can recieve via email |

Pics and a police report is all you need if you plan on counter-suing him...someone could estimate the damage from detailed photos. To have an estimate drawn up now may work as a reference in a future lawsuit but i wouldn't back date it or anything else illegal..that could be grounds for fraud or factitious behavior. Hopefully you got a police report and it should state whose fault it is..unless its part of the 'no fault' clause in some states. Did he just file suit against you and if so, what was the delay? Remember everything you post on the internet is public view so do it the right way. Nothing wrong w/fixing the damage yourself and keeping the awarded insurance money in any accident case, the 100buks it took to fix your car has no relevence on the actual cost of damages. |

well the good news is i faxed the info through to the insurance company who stated it was not my fault and denied their claim, im having an estimate done so that his insurance will fix the damage and pay because quite honestly you get what you pay for and the work that was done was shitty, but i have detailed photographs so i think im covered, thank you for the information, it really helped |

You got a travelling gypsy to do your body work?! That's a huge No no. Better to go through the insurance company. Especially if you know it was his fault. You get a good fix at a REAL shop and the a-hole in the civic gets the fault and his insurance rates may go up. It ought to teach him (or her) to look both ways real good before backing out of a parking spot. |

I hate those guys. Evey single time I pull into a parking lot somewhere in Brooklyn, somebody's running up to me asking if I want my bumper painted. It's my fcuking daily driver and I fcuking live in brooklyn! Even if I did get a good paint job on my bumpers, it'd get ruined within 5 minutes of me parking because the a**hole that parks in front of it or behind it doesn't know how to parallel park. (Or simply doesn't care.) Anyway, as long as the insurance company has your info you should be fine. If anything, the body shop might just give an estimate to fix the crapp repair job that the gypsy did... assuming he didn't damage it more. Edited by JekyllandHyde, Aug 30 2010, 05:45 AM.

Whatever panel they fixed needs to be replaced now. These guys drill a million holes in your panel then slap bondo on it and call it fixed. One good bumb and you will have a panel that looks like it was shot with buck shot. |
