1989 camaro rs 305 tbi good evening ladies and gentlemen, so as i was attempting to take of my driver door as it is badly dented i will supply pics at a later date i stopped and said aloud this looks like a job for nythirdgen has anyone attempted this feat and if so wat detailed tips could u give a lowly commoner such as myself i thought it would be unscrew a few bolts and bam.......i was wrong thank u and salutations |

You have to take out all the wires out of the inside of the door Take off the hood, then take off the fender, then take off the door And why are you takin it off, got another one to put on? Edited by charged355, Nov 8 2010, 08:29 PM.

the issue i have is a baddet right were the door and left fender meet so i wanna take it off take apart the door give it some long hard "bangs" set it straight then put it back on.......now for six months i been lookin for a used door but i had no luck remeber im in quiet saratoga so craigslist is my only friend even ebay has failed me |

You can take the door off by its self but its really hard to line everything back up, the right way would be to do what Alex said and I agree that you should do the hing repair if your going to pull the door. If your going to take it off with out removing the fender and hood then I would suggest getting some touch up paint and paint around the door bolt washers so that way you have some reference point to go by. |

make sure you're supporting the door as you undo the bolts! It's heavy! Also...the wires unplug from the door. ...you don't remove them!

so to put this to a rest a friend of mines said just remove to bolts and the door comes off and theres eight bolts to remove the hinges is this true thanks |

Just put it back, reverse what you did, this is to much work if you not changing the door, or you can go outside and piss is the wind, it will have the same effect as what your doing now |

well mr charged jus got done takin the entire door off and the panel and banged the hell out of that dent go it as flat as i could then put it bac on no hood tricks or fender takin off . . . . . ...so thanks for makin it "so hard" and watch out i been pissin in the wind alll night hope it doesnt find its way to ur crib .......ha |

hey sally you sound like a wild one. when i did my hinges alooooong time ago to my 86 i used my floor jack to support the door cut the old hinges out and replaced them and the bushings i know those parts are still cheap 5-10 bucks. but i do remember scratching the fender and the door trying to get it all back together. but this time around about 15 years later i paid the camaro crazy guys in lindenhurst $50 to do my hinges. any way hes got it done just figured id throw my 2 cents in. |
