Going to be stripping my rims on my car. I know not to get on the rubber and stuff so im going to keep the stripper off the tire. What else do i need to worry about when i get the clear coat and paint off my rims. Should i get rid of the white or keep it??

Thanks guys tell me if you've done this before or haven't.

Apply it in one direction only with a painbrush. I used the one in the tin, not the spray. And whatever you do, DO NOT get that sh!t on your skin. Oh, and a well ventilated spot would be ideal.

Thanks sam. I read some horror stories already about the hives and burning sensation. People say it could eat at the tires and where down. So i'll be extra careful. Another safe thing would be to do is buy it in the container not the spray can. Last thing i need is that misting all over my garage neighbors car's and house. Thanks again

OK well i got issue i shot heat at it let it sit for 30 mintutes and i have nothing it is a bottle of airplane stripper and it's green. now it left some yellow residue and looked like nothing happened. post up a pic in a sec.
this is the issue and nothing happened. Is it to cold out?? when i had the heat hitting it would bubble but gum up?

Also i dont have a heat gun i was using a hair dryer and don't know anyone who has one..
Washed it all off came off but none of the paint went anywhere and also stained it yellow.

Some times you have to let it sit for longer, make sure you apply heavily with a brush and let it sit for as long as possible. Then when your ready to remove it hit it again with the stripper.

Did you apply it in one direction? I used a wire brush to work it in after it sat for awhile.

Wash it off..dont' let it sit overnight. Why are you doing this again? Why didn't you just sand and paint them...polish the alloy portions w/some good polish like the stuff from blue coral or something.

Aircraft stripper gets most of the factory clearcoat off. It worked for me with my spare set of IROC wheels. They just needed to be gone over by hand afterwards in some spots.

If you want to keep the stock machine lines in the wheels don't use a wire-brush. Power wash or nylon brush, and keep stripping.

The point of stripper is to keep the lines. At least that's what I would do.

It's just taking forever because i don't have a heat gun and it's not hot and sunny out.
trying to get a hold of my friend later today to go to his place and finish this rim up. He has a heated garge and heaters so this should work if i get a hold of him.

Thank you sir.
Make sure you have a heat gun im stuck with a hiar dryer and not working the best here... two hours on one rim to get a little off. Should only take 15 mintutes but it's cold.

it said between 55-65 ideal temp for outside. I wouldn't try buton torch but i would maybe use a heat gun. I gave up i got the one wheel complete but it made a mess and wasn't worth it at all. The bottle i had was bad too was clumpy at the bottom of it. I'm just going to get a new set of rims or pay my friend 150 bucks to powdercoat them or dip them in fake chrome.

By the way, the wire brush was just to help scrape the clear coat off with light pressure. Try it again when it's warmer. It's not hard at all. I stripped mine, polished them half way and sold them.

Yeah I can't do it right now it's worse enough that i almost had a tree fall on my garage i watched it fall to i heard a snap ran out of my garge boom. fell into the back of my neighbors yard. Almost went through her roof 5 inches and another part of the tree caught it.

Nothing ever works out for me... I don't have the room i don't have the tools and when i get my hands on something i want to do it never work's the right way it is supposed to be. It really gets me mad to that nothing works for me.

Patience, the more and more you do things on your own the better you will get. Every few years you will look back on how far you have come. And so on.

More time, more tools, more experience...Eventually everything works out.
