I've been wanting something like this for my laptop for a while now, mostly so I can do my own diagnostic work at home but also so I have the option of tuning my vehicles in the future. I know a few of you guys are running some of these setups, which ones are good to use, what are they capable of and what kind of prices would some one have to pay to obtain something like it for themselves? This is one of the combo packages I looked at today.

I have a $60 pocket scanner for quick code reading but I want something more advanced for my lap top. I can't read ABS codes or anything like that with my current scanner.

I have autotap and my favorite Auto Enginuity on my HP laptop that I use at work. Autotap is a little more than a basic handheld scanner. Auto enginuity is more advanced with the advanced interface option it reads abs and clears them. Also can read data on non OBD vehicles like cummins, powestroke, duramax...We have a lot of newer chevys in the shop, this can also relearn the crank/cam position sensors. They both do data logging and all that stuff Auto Eng. is capable of printouts and I have hot-keys set to Alldata.

Both great software for the laptop.

Thanks guys, great info! I'm going to look into the tunerpro software, I'll just have to get the right cables to plug into the OBD port, any suggestions/info for those? I'm not trying to be lazy, I've been doing some research but I'd like to have the info here for anybody else interested in a system like this.

Cool, I'll have to check it out. One thing I realized though is that tunerpro leans more toward older vehicles. I can't tune my T/A this way since I switched to carb but thought I should point it out for anyone else interested.

I did check out Magic's suggestion and it is far less expensive than the others I've looked at. Still a bit steep for me at the moment but affordable for the average joe. It does cover all the newer OBD systems out there too.

If TP had applications for newer vehicles it would help me out a lot. I am happy with the carb on the bird though. Much simpler. :D
