all right, so Dan helped me with the hood and front bumper, but there are still some problems that are causing the hood to not latch down, wont fully close, and rubs against the passenger side headlight to where it is having major difficulty going up and down, we alligned the hood all the way back and it is still a little too far forward, and the beam across the top/front of the hood, over the radiator and AC condenser, with the airbag sensor is bent down, so I'm thinking that because that is bent down, but the hood is all the way back and wont shut completely or cleanly... also need some referrals for some light bondo work, and a repaint.... |

I would think your header panel is tweaked, causing the alignment issues. (the header panel is that piece of metal that runs alone the front of the car in front of the radiator. You going thru insurance on this thing? They may total it out if you have collision...about 70-80% cost of fix versus value of car...pretty easy to justify being over its worth on total cost to fix. If not, what i am assuming is the case, how much money you have to fix this? You can get away w/respraying the front clip to save money and since the paint is good, it won't look too bad..i had mine clip repainted and its not that noticeable at all. ...to repaint the front bumper/hood and fenders (blending) and aligning your header panel on the cheap if not too bad, your probably looking at $1500+ from an average shop but that is my opinion based on shops i deal with...shane and alex and some other body guys will probably give you a better real world estimate though. I already told u what was wrong. Take it to a shop and ask em to look at it, they will know, then u can take it back and take the bumper off n bring it back to the shop so they can pull it and align it, this will save u money, I'd say bring it to me but I'm neck deep in hail damage still. |

well i dont have alot of money just yet, im still catching up from august, and im not getting ahead, so it will take time for me to even get it out to someone, so i have to drive it as is for awhile... just curious on what the total cost might be, if i wet sand the whole car myself, and have the whole car repainted, or just the new parts to try and match, and then total estimated cost to get the hood to close all the way without it messing up the headlights |

1320b4u is right. The header panel is bent. I would say you need a frame machine to get the car square. You could also go redneck and use a comealong and a tree/post to pull that header panel back. I did that to a Bronco I used to have and it came out straight and had no problems getting the hood and fender to fit. Check the alignment of your lower rad support too. |

Bottomline man its a nice car and yours..you kept it nice before the accident and i understand the ernst to get it back to how it was but it is a 6cylinder. Don't go too crazy on getting it perfect. Shop around and get the best estimate for the money. You'll be pricing yourself over the value of the car if you try to get it perfect. |

I've been having nightmares about hail damage, and that's not even a joke. Most cars are full dissasembly and full paintjobs back n front glass and water damage. It's sick |

oh i know its just a six, but I plan on keeping the car for a long time, so a cheap fix to get the hood to fully close instead of using a bungee chord is my first step, the second step is once everything closes and pops up properly, then have the AC/Heat checked, I feel like the clutch is bad inside the AC compressor and the condenser (whatever that is in front of the radiator has a hole in it from the Airbag sensor, then I want a cheap do-over with the same color red after I wetsand it down myself... thats it... just the maintaining part, not anything perfect... |

fyi...wet sanding before paint isn't necessary...your not accomplishing anything by doing that. |

I thought wetsanding creates an even surface that paint can adhere to (evenly) |
