I give up !!

So, for those who have been following my build, I want to undercoat while the engine and everything is out, Im thinking tomorrow, I break out the portable grinder, throw the wire wheel on it, hit the areas with rust, really just the driver side floor pan, then hit the whole underside of the car with a scratch pad, followed by mineral spirits and this undercoat. Its not rubberized, its just basic flat black undercoat. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Undercoat,-Black,-16-oz--Aerosol-Duplicolor_7100362-P_N3280_T%7CGRP2050_____ Would anyone not reccomend this type of under coat? And then use rubberized coating for the wheel wells? Or was thinking about using bedliner on the whole underside? Similar to this:

I recommend rubberized, it dampens noise and vibration. Bed liner is a good route. Its pretty damn strong and holds up to the elements very well. |

Well tomorrow is going to be beautiful, Im thinking, hit the rust and factory undercoating with the wire wheel, followed by everything thats getting undercoated being scuffed with a scuff pad. Then wipe the entire underside with mineral spirits, let it dry for a half hour or so, and use a bed liner, http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Rust-Oleum-1-qt-truck-bed-coating/_/N-257b?counter=7&itemIdentifier=827170_0_0_ and this kit to apply it, http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Rust-Oleum-Roller-kit/_/N-257b?itemIdentifier=827444&_requestid=56684 Edited by Deluca119, Nov 11 2011, 10:04 PM.

Use many cans of the regular rubberized undercoating..double or triple coat the bottom in spray form or if you have a gun w/a large tip and compressor do it that way. Truck bedliner will run you $50 and you'll probably use 2-3 kits whereas can's of undercoating can be had for under $30buks. Remember it ain't a show car and its the underside, plus touching up would be cheap and easier. What it looks like you want to use is more of a trunk paint imo. |

Maybe spray on rubberized under coat is the way to go, Im reluctant because I need to get sub frame connectors, I might just leave the area where they will be welded untouched for the time being until the engine is in and the car is back at ride weight so I can have them welded in. I think tomorrow Ill run to the store in pick up 10 to 12 cans of undercoat tape off the bottom prep it and go nuts. |

Rubberized undercoat, everything underneath. It's easy to grind off where it needs welding. Mask everything up, give you a tip. Aluminum foil. |
